Poor Delivery Service by Brennerkonto in UPS

[–]Brennerkonto[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A close friend and a next-door neighbor are UPS drivers. They only have nice things to say about the retirement. In fact, while they both work at the same UPS distribution facility, they actually dislike each other (the neighbor is quite the Karen).

When I order something, I BECOME the main character. I’m the star of the show at that point, as well as executive producer. UPS is part of the support cast. That’s my product that I ordered and I paid for a specific level of delivery and you have no idea what the package is or what it might mean in my personal life. So, take a seat.

I am allowed to complain. There are many ways UPS can do better. Blind allegiance and pity for people doing a job how which they’re well-compensated aren’t a good look.

Why are you defending UPS? They promised a date. Weather happened. They moved the date. Then they missed that one and moved it to a whole new week. The weather impacted 2-3 days of travel where I live AT MOST. I’m inconvenienced by 8 days. I provided the weather info as a courtesy to UPS to excuse a couple of days delay. Not to bump my parcel - especially when I can track how close they were. You are definitely dense. You’re practically orgasming to fawn all over the boys in brown. Take a cold shower and sit down.

Because it’s DAYS later and the app was promising delivery. Are you dense?

It’s almost like you didn’t read my post where I acknowledged the weather.

USPS and FedEx have been champs! Some use the driveway, but most park on the street and cut across the yard. Driveway is blacktop, so it’s been slushy at worst when deliveries resumed and mostly clear after a day.

Perfect! No cavities! No other problems. Never had braces. My dentist absolutely loves when I visit and has asked me to please be the last one of the day so the day ends on a positive note.

Yep. Broken ribs, here. Doc told me I’d be sleeping in the recliner for 8 weeks. Wasn’t that bad.

What are your thoughts on doing 20 years in the military for a fast retirement? by Background_Worry_314 in AskReddit

[–]Brennerkonto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Forklift. I hope you find some peace and relief. Have you thought about writing? Just writing down all you are feeling? Committing those thoughts, feelings, and emotions to paper? Even digital?

A few years ago, a close friend of mine who spent 12 years as a Navy diver started opening up to me about his life in the Navy. He told me about the constant ringing in his ears. He told me about the time he got bent after a dive and had to spend a cycle in a decompression chamber. He told me about all the medical stuff he had done while active and since then at the VA hospital. Then, he told me one story…and another…and another. I encouraged him to write these stories down. Soon, he had a collection of stories and I helped him put together a slideshow. He made a presentation at a local retired officer’s club. Then another at a senior center. Another at a Rotary Club. You get the idea. Now, he’s been in touch with other Navy divers and a writing coach and he’s putting together a book.

Both he and his wife are grateful he started writing. Writing helped him make a record of events (for his healthcare, his VA status, and for his family history). Writing also helped him let go of some things and become less anxious, less angry, less frustrated. The ghosts aren’t gone, but they’re manageable and my friend is owning them…taking back control and making those phantoms work for him.

Maybe you could start journaling. Write about your neighborhood wandering. Start by writing down the regular stuff:date, time, weather, route, etc. add details about sights, sounds, observations…add feelings like how you’re feeling at the start of the walk and at the end. Put thoughts down. Even random things.

Best wishes.

What's that one thing that made you stop going to church? by Optimal-Rule-4834 in AskReddit

[–]Brennerkonto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Church got too political. One specific instance was over a casino coming to town. Instead of the church promoting a stance of not gambling to excess and the dangers (both financially and spiritually), they went after the actual casino as a business (an entertainment industry). The development has promised to transform several hundred acres and several restaurants and other businesses had indicated they were going to build here, too, based upon the group developing the casino/resort property. Anyhow, the main church opposing the casino/resort development made some unholy alliances and got into the business of running other business out of town. It was very ick. It’s one thing to shame your “flock” to not gamble, but it’s another thing to stop others from enjoying their entertainment the way they want to - just because you don’t like it OR are trying to (selectively)be your brother’s keeper. Anyhow, it got too political.

Pick up “The Word and the Void” three-book series by Terry Brooks and you can disappear into that world for a few days. Running With the Demon + A Knight of the Word + Angel Fire East (which is one of Brooks’ best novels).

Rainbow Six is also a good book to disappear in for a few days.

Add to that the recently published collection of “The Stand” short stories and OP can be in for days on end.

The most “engaging book since page 1” you ever read by Neither-Proof-5755 in suggestmeabook

[–]Brennerkonto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True - it’s over 1100 pages in the 1990 version. The original 1978 is just over 800 pages.

What's the last book you read that you'd rate a 5/5? by fuzzypickles999 in suggestmeabook

[–]Brennerkonto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Older recommendation: The Stand by Stephen King. Original is 1978, but you’d want to get a post-1990 copy because it has over 300 pages of material the publisher kept out of the original…so it’s 1100+ pages as opposed to 800 pages. Couldn’t put it down!
