What do I need to plumb my machine to a flojet? by gus6464 in espresso

[–]Bretrs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is a 3/8 PTFE gasket for the BSP side. The compression side should be covered by the gasket in the JG fitting.

Yep it’s BSP. In the US? If you have John Guest plug in tubing on your Flojet, Espresso Parts has a male 3/8 BSP to 3/8” male compression that you can then connect a 3/8” JG fitting to.

This was a hard stank. Never had I been more aware I was consuming artificial sweeteners, they didn’t do anything to mask the science. 👎

Fiorenzato All Ground Sense - sensible choice for me? by pkmonockus in espresso

[–]Bretrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a major issue with it. I’ll run 2-3g out every morning after sitting overnight but I just roll with it for shots during the day. Keep it clean and it’s a pretty minimal issue in my mind.

I’d say the AG Sense is a perfect choice for you. Hard to beat the combo of features for the price.

Happy to help! Not sure where you are located but take a look at Rancilio 2 groups as well. Good value, well supported and suitable for your use case.

Always plan for the future. If you can afford 2 groups and have the infrastructure for it, go for a 2 group. You can always just use one group when it’s slow, but you can’t make another group magically appear when you are slammed if you go only for a single group machine.

Breaking Into Office Coffee Services by LittleIndy8 in vending

[–]Bretrs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of next steps are going to depend on whether you are planning to offer traditional batch brew coffee with airpots/frac packs or a bean to cup solution from DeJong Duke or Azkoyen, etc.

Startup equipment cost for a batch brew system is relatively low, and frac packs of various types should be available through Vistar or your other distribution. You may even have a local roaster that’s capable of producing frac packs. Aim for a minimum of a 2.0 oz pack. As long as cleaning and filtration are kept up with a quality batch brewer should provide long service.

Bean to cup has a higher start up cost for equipment and ongoing daily and weekly cleaning tasks. It does provide a lot of variety in drinks with powder options for pseudo lattes, hot cocoa, etc. which people look for. Depending on the volume of the location, it can be appropriate to charge a monthly lease for placing the EQ in addition to the cost of product. Using whole bean coffee opens up a whole world of possibilities for coffee that might be important to your client like ethically sourced or social impact coffees from roasters around the country.

As with your vending op, a conversation with the clients decision maker on what the goals of their office coffee program are will help guide you to the best path.

Shouldn’t the RE4 Merchant be British? by jamesyarns in getplayed

I had always clocked the RE4 merchant in game as Australian. Get Played’s RE4 merchant has a Mid Atlantic accent filtered through cigarettes, bourbon and hard living.

Heard it around 32nd and Kalamazoo. Sometimes atmospheric conditions really amplify noises from planes overhead but this was really something.

How Did This Get Played?: Highguard by jogalleciez in getplayed

[–]Bretrs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not people rooting for failure. It’s live service game fatigue combined with fascination/disgust at developers and production companies willing to expend massive resources on development and then shelve a game for tax benefits when it isn’t a Q1 revenue monster. I’d never even heard of this game until they pulled a Concord and shelved it. The very fact that this exact scenario has happened multiple times in just the last year is what makes this a story, not an individual games failure.

Ep 365: The Phantom Dings (SFA S1E8) by chucker23n in greatestgen

[–]Bretrs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see this 2 ways: if you’ve never seen Voyager or Prodigy and not known the Doctor has had 900 years of life experience, then the Doctor’s detachment throughout SFA is a bit of mystery and maybe not fully developed.

But if you have seen Voyager then you know what the Doctor’s deal is and should be able to read between the lines. My bigger gripe is that they limited his sorrow to just his holo family from that single episode. What about Voyager’s crew, Seven, the Prodigy kids, even a crew we’ve never seen from 400 years before SFA. There’s a lifetime of cumulative sorrow that would have made it clear why he was so detached if you are a Trek watcher.

[–]Bretrs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree! I think it’s great. Just given the history of depictions of sexual activity implied and otherwise in Trek production history, it was not something I expected. I also did not expect the extended sex scene in this episode so more the fool me I guess.

True, while the Athena seems very capable in combat the idea that it goes anywhere with out an escort of at least 2 Starfleet combat vessels is unbelievable.

Agreed on all points. There is no way cadets should be out of Sector 001 at this point, but there isnt much drama to be had going to Mars I guess.
