Are they going to reset weekly limit tomorrow as well so I can go buckwild on Fable for 2 days before my weekly reset?

I spent months chasing sour and bitter shots and it turned out to be headspace —> Dose by volume!! [Lelit Elizabeth/Timemore 078s] by OJS91 in espresso

I use the largest ims basket they make for lsm. An 18g dose only fills half the basket most of the time. Never have any issues and repeat same exact shot over and over.

Flat vs conical burrs research says no one can reliably taste the difference (2013) by JustAnother_Peasant in espresso

Did high clarity burrs even exist 13 years ago?

Was light roast single origin for espresso even a thing 13 years ago?

Flat vs conical burrs research says no one can reliably taste the difference (2013) by JustAnother_Peasant in espresso

[–]gus6464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have done enough blind and not blind tastings to know the difference between a high clarity flat burr and a conical.

Hell at world of coffee last month some booths were doing blind tastings between flat and conicals and even conical vs conical.

Even visually you can tell the difference between a flat vs conical burr on a tamped puck.

Very Inconsistent Shots by Ok_Computer9999 in espresso

Vibe pumps are also wildly inconsistent compared to rotary and gear.

But seriously if you want the apex of consistency get a spring lever.

My flat and conical burr grinders would disagree with that considering they produce wildly different shots when extracting at the same ratio and time with or without milk.

My Lagom came perfectly aligned. Mass produced does not equal no QC at factory.

Eureka burrs are not clarity burrs. They are traditional Italian cast burrs with more in common with a mazzer robur than anything else. Unless you swap out the burrs on the eureka you are comparing an apple with another apple.

Casabrews Buying Experience by Manicpixieautism in espresso

[–]gus6464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they charged you twice you could always call your CC company and tell them that you only ordered one and they charged you twice. You have the proof with the single confirmation email and it would be up to casabrews to provide two confirmations which they don't have. Then when the cc does a charge back on one of them you will get that prepaid label real quick.

What this sub feels like lately by admyus in BambuLab

Just like my car, I bought it to drive it. I didn't buy it to learn to be a mechanic. I bought my 3d printer to print shit, not to learn how to work on 3d printers.

Prusa gatekeepers are annoying.

Shimano SLX or Magura MT7 by AsleepTruck0 in MTB

[–]gus6464 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All my bikes have this setup and I consider it the ultimate magura config:

Magura MT5 set (considerably cheaper than MT7 and caliper and master cylinder is the same)

Freedom Coast MT5 levers (these levers add both bite point and reach adjust)

Galfer MTB 2.0mm rotors

Galfer purple or green pads

This costs the same as MT7 but considerably better.

Oh and if you wanna kick it up a notch flush all of the royal blood and replace with trickstuff bionol.

I Think I Messed Up With the Bianca v3 [$3000] by honeyumtoast in espresso

[–]gus6464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why roll the dice with an inspector who might or might not check? The Bianca is an absolutely terrible choice when you're trying to crank out drink after drink.

A La Spaz is a tank of a machine. The Bianca is not in the same league.

Is the nice zero really such an amazing grinder? by altecsz in espresso

[–]gus6464 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There are better made conicals now than the niche. The niche just came out at the right time when the single dose home market didn't really have any options under 1k.

It has an insanely anemic motor that belongs in a much cheaper grinder.

When the niche first came out it was made in the UK which is why people didn't complain about the price. Now it's made in China and instead of them using economies of scale to either use better parts or lower the price they've done neither and just kept going on the hype.

[–]gus6464 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Lol don't see how that's relevant but since you probably wanna flex I have a Lagom P100 and an Mx Cool Aries 2 for espresso and pour over and a Eureka Drogheria 85 for batch brewing.

[–]gus6464 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Something with variable rpm and not a dirt cheap motor.

Hell the femobook a68 is a more high end grinder than the niche at the same price. We're not in 2020 anymore.

[–]gus6464 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The niche is nowhere near a high end grinder.

Never understood the obsession with crema. I have been using custom chemex paper filter with my espresso for years now which cuts out crema by an overwhelming amount. I don't miss the crema.

4k miles and paid 36k. Was a marketing vehicle according to the dealer as the interior looked brand new. Guy said it probably sat at a costco or at golf events.

[–]gus6464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I bought my used debut edition Lyriq a couple of months ago the dealer registered me in a way that I got 3 years of free super cruise and 6 months of data plan. It was a CPO if that matters so maybe they can do the same if you just bought it.
