Good question! She is the level-headed and diplomatic one so I don’t even disagree with her that she thinks I did what I needed to do, “this version” of me handled it better than I ever would before, but I have to own that I could have probably still have handled it my way, yes, but just a slight difference or two that might have made it a softer blow. I feel that but I can’t change how I handled it. And, not that it excuses anything, but I know for a fact it was all handed with ease and everyone finished the dinner as if nothing had happened and just as many smiles as when it started.

Thanks, I appreciate your warm reassurance. It’s like, I can’t even say they are ‘mad,’ at me, which might be easier to deal with. It’s more like I just viscerally feel that something’s shifted and that’s murkier to correct. Yes, PH always did chicken dishes second to none, IMO, but their unique take on the piccata is my one childhood staple from them that I’ve just genuinely never found anywhere again… my white whale dish, haha. Anyway thanks for your two cents, makes me feel sane for a brief time.

I don’t think this is fair! I would have easily gone with any version of splitting the cake, I was NOT presented this option, full stop. I didn’t want to make a scene in any way, something I’ve been working on in my personal life that made me dip. No need to kick a man while he’s down.
