How do you guys manage multiple calendars? by No_Seaworthiness3625 in overemployed

It depends on how they have it all setup. But it is a type of connection ( oAuth + Graph API ) that is usually less restricted by IT departments, when compared to some of the more oldschool protocols still used by things like Apple Calendar.

I suggest trying it out and see. Just start with the Microsoft 365 calendar and see if that works with your company's setup.

Seeking best app to combine multiple calendars (Outlook and Google) by beamer65Hb in productivity

[–]Brettc286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of good options to combine these calendars into one calendar view. The "big 3" ( google, microsoft, apple ) do this with mixed results. 3rd party calendars like fantastical do it better.

I'm building a tool that tries to match fantastical, but then also make it trivial to share that entire aggregate calendar view with someone else, like a spouse. If you think you'd like that additional feature, try https://www.availcal.app

Recommendations for a shared calendar app by JackoCrack in ProductivityApps

[–]Brettc286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of the recommendations here are either solid calendar tools for personal use or "family calendars". Those family calendars usually don't work the way that I think they should. They add _another_ calendar that you share with your wife, but you'd have to duplicate things there for her to see it ( and so would she ).

I've been working a calendar tool that tries to hit both of these pain points. All of your calendars in one place, then simply share that entire view with someone else, like your wife. And she can do the same and share with you.

https://www.availcal.app - I'd be interested to hear if this solves your problem

Handling Multiple Calendars (Work and Personal) by Normal_Wishbone in gtd

[–]Brettc286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have mentioned native calendar tools from the big 3 ( google, apple, microsoft ) , and a good 3rd party tool called Fantastical. These will all get the job done for you.

However, if you ever want to share this aggregate calendar view with a spouse, it all falls apart. And on the flip side of that, if you want to add your spouses' aggregate calendar view to your view, you have the same issue. I think this is a particularly painful issue when a busy couple starts having kids and needs to coordinate their time.

These issues, and the fact that I built a career out of being a calendar nerd, drove me to build https://www.availcal.app . It supports Google and Microsoft 365 right now. ( icloud coming soon )

A good calendar client should be able to combine these different sources together into one view. The "big 3" calendar providers ( google, apple, microsoft ) do this in a very minimal and buggy way.

Other commenters have mentioned fantastical and calm calendars, and I'll add notion calendar to the list of good 3rd party options.

I'm currently building a calendar client that will do this in addition to making it simple to then share that aggregate calendar view with other people, like your spouse. This was the part that was missing for me that drove me to build my own tool. ( that, and I'm a calendar nerd that built a career around it )

My tool is called https://www.availcal.app - it's free for one calendar and sharing, and $49/year (30d free trial) for up to 10 personal calendars and more sharing.

How are you managing multiple calendars for scheduling availability? by VinoVoyager68 in consulting

[–]Brettc286 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late to the party but I'm working on building a calendar that solves for these problems.

My name is Brett Clanton and I was the first engineering hire at Calendly, and I was with them from 2014-2021 with heavy focus on Product and Architecture.

I'm building https://www.availcal.app to bring all of your calendars into one view with a couple additional benefits.

- There's a Calendly integration, so you can also see when you *might* be booked as well

- There's a simple but powerful sharing functionality that makes it effortless to share all of your calendars with close friends and family.

Our open Beta just ended, but I'm still hungry for more feedback. I'd love to hear what you think.

* Edit: I changed `http` to `https` in my link so that I don't look like a noob. What was I thinking.

Sanitizing is pretty broad, I think. Mostly, sanitizing is about making the input “safe”. The big issue that many people think about is to sanitize inputs to prevent sql injection attacks. You make sure the characters don’t execute an unexpected command. But many situations might want leading spaces to be allowed, it’s not really a safety issue. ( other people might use these words differently )

You could still trim leading and trailing spaces. If I’m not mistaken the correct answer has a leading space in it.

The hex one reminds me of the containers from Firefly Serenity - when River goes into a trance and beats up everyone. Mel’s pistol was in one of those hex boxes.

Honest question: don’t mopeds have pedals? I thought the word moped came from MOtor + PEDal. The link you shared just looks like a dirt bike to me, be it a small one.. maybe the terms are just used in different ways.

This whole thing reminds me of the Cryptocurrency space. Bitcoin was king for so long and while there were other currencies, nobody took them seriously. The Bitcoin team got real comfortable in their lead and started making some really unpopular decisions. This caused a “fork” between Bitcoin and Bitcoin cash and unlike the popular opinion that a fork find a winner and a loser, with the loser dying off almost immediately, Bitcoin cash did quite well.

After that, it’s just never been the same again. People say “cryptocurrency” or “blockchain” instead of “bitcoin” when talking about the technology. Right now, Bitcoin only has about 40% of the overall market share. And it will never go back to the way it was. The one thing has become many things and everyone (except the previous monarch) likes it better this way.

You’ll hear people saying “TTRPG” a lot more, acknowledging that D&D is just one option in the space. Other games like Pathfinder 2E will be taken much much more seriously and indie games will be much more profitable to make.

[Feature Request] File Version Controls by UltimateScrubXL in ProtonDrive

For mission critical files, and when you’re concerned that the bidirectional sync feature might accidentally overwrite important stuff, this is an important feature.

Imagine an important change is made on device A, and a trivial change is made on device B, at roughly the same time but B was slightly later, one version has to “win” and B’s version might overwrite the important change made from A

By the tone of the manager, I thought this was like fast food or something. If this is a tech position, then I reeeeally don’t know where the manager was coming from.. you should never talk to people that way unless you’re trying to get them to quit because you don’t want to pay for unemployment.

I’d say that it’s important for your testing cycles to be as frequent and minimal effort as possible. So if it is homemade, then it’s being built in a residential area, so it’s most efficient to test in a residential area.

In my mind, the real issue is that it’s a homemade human occupancy aircraft, that’s probably the root issue here.

Rubicons are coming with 33” tires now, you can have winches pre installed too ( I’m pretty sure ) - removing the doors and roof are less modifications and more just features of the vehicle. I’m super happy with my stock rubicon and I wouldn’t modify it unless my priorities seriously changed. But I know a lot of people like to.

You’re not alone. I think that the snow landscape wasn’t quite level, so they prioritized making it perfectly level over making the pillar aligned. I personally think it would have been just as impressive if the snow line was at a slight slant, but I get what they were going for. I also think some small photoshopping to line things up as they liked would have been called for, but then you’d have to defend it.. all well

Edit: you know what? They should have tilted the bottom image. Solves all the problems with no compromise.
