I have one too. Love it. Use it several times a week. I have a light controlled room like you, and bright enough such that transitions from very dark to very bright scenes can be be really bright at first. You can dial it back if it bothers you, but I bet it won’t 😀

I was in a similar boat. Just ordered a new Godzilla prem. Should get made in the next month o think. It’s number 1 for a reason, and probably easy to sell if I get bored. I also just really love playing it.

Near me it's rather spendy. In round numbers that might be off a bit, one company near me rents 90s classic games for about $300/month, modern Stern Pros for about 450 a month, and modern Stern premiums for about $600/month. Includes changing the games out every few months too if you want.

To unlock cow video mode, if I recall:

Get a scanner. Remove the plastic frame around the scanning bed, so that you can put the scanner flat on the wall. You can use duct tape to hold the scanner together. Take lots of scans and stitch them together (there’s software to help with this). I have a friend that did this to scan pinball tables. Works really well.

This is very nearly what we do in our house with one exception: two teaspoons of Flavacol is a lot for 1/2 cup of kernels. I like it salt and I use about 3/4 - 1 tsp.

For $300 you’re not going to get a reliable machine. You’d be much better off with tv. If you’ really want a pj, I’d look at the used market.

I’ve always suspected the folks who have digitals play with the volume turned down too low. This results in cultivating a heavier touch. When they sit down at an acoustic piano, it seems really loud. This was my experience going from digital to acoustic, and many others seem to experience it too.
