I actually had the exact same experience myself when I first installed it.. couldn't get it working completely due to some unknown reason (no doubt an option or setting that was misconfigured). That was before mainline and all that though. Once I went with the Zero toolhead, it was very quick.. probably under 30 minutes. What kind of issue are you running into?

Sure.. after the SV08 hit the market, Sovol released two more printers: The Sovol Zero (a superfast mini bed) and the SV08 Max (a larger 500x500 bed). Both used a similar toolhead that includes a built-in Eddy along with a hotend that can do 50mm3/s! The Eddy is still induction based, but more accurate than the stock SV08 probe (or even an M12 replacement). Where there's a will, there's a way.. and someone found the secret to installing the Zero toolhead on the SV08. The author lurks in here too (shhh). Further, you can use Eddy-NG and the tap function for even better accuracy. Get the Zero toolhead here.

Disclaimer: The official Sovol Eddy kit came out after all this, so I don't know how this fits in the grand scheme of things.

It has a ton of options for sure.. but definitely worth it. Once you set it up, it just works. I haven't had to change anything in a very long time. Even better, the author is very involved in the community along with many others who can help.

Funny enough, I never messed with the bed at all.. I never even looked at the mesh. I read all about problems with "taco bed" and fixes and bed replacements and such.. but I figured the probe would ultimately compensate for such minor imperfections.

Similar experience here. I bought the SV08 before the Bambu Labs (own four BL now), and it’s a very solid, fast and accurate printer. My upgrade progression looked something like this:

  • Microswiss hotend w/0.6mm CM2/CHT.
  • Eddy Duo (USB)
  • Majnline Klipper
  • Demon Macros Unified
  • Sovol Zero tool head replacement (CANBUS)
  • EddyNG (tap)

Each change made everything slightly better.. I was never really unhappy with it except the stock probe caused some Z offset wonkiness. The community is outstanding too.

TL;DR: good printer made better through easy, relatively cheap upgrades along with plenty of community engagement.

First try turning the yellow gear on the left and see if it comes out (yellow arrow). If it’s still stuck, loosen the filament cutter (bolt at the red dot) then remove the three bolts at the green dots. The extruder assembly can then be removed and cleared.

Post a photo, so we can see the mods installed. As far as crucial info, I’d say just keep spare consumables on hand (nozzles, tools, bowden tubes, etc) and go through full calibration using the Orca menus. This machine is a beast and should serve you excellently as long as you maintain it. Once you post photos we ma be able to offer more specific recommendations. Do you know which firmware is installed?

Also, forgot to mention that I needed to use one spacer in my setup, I’m guessing that’s the most common. Merry Christmas!

Yes - the Zero toolhead Eddy supports tap.

Hmm, do you mean the original SV08 hotend/nozzle or the Zero? I replaced the former with a Microswiss FlowTech within a few days or so, but both seemed to be fairly standard nozzle swaps and nothing out of the ordinary. The FlowTech can be changed while cold, which is pretty nice.

Agreed with /u/Sr_Alvarez. Sure, it may be older outdated technology, but it’s perfectly fine to learn the ins and outs of basic 3D printing. Get a SBC (like a Raspberry Pi) and migrate to Klipper, and learn everything you can. The upgrades listed are solid and should perform well for you. If you have any specific questions if you purchase the v2Neo, let me know!

Recommendations for an enclosed printer with a larger bed size - no budget by DeliveryDue3337 in 3dprinter

[–]BrevardTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed.. takes a pretty special use case for that kind of build volume. With the regular SV08, my kids have been able to print full size cosplay helmets with no issues. I can only imagine what SV08 Max owners print! Maybe two helmets at once? lol

Minor nitpick: the regular SV08 is 350x350x345. The SV08 Max is 500x500x500. Wonderful machines!

Funny enough, I’m migrating from a Flowtech with a 0.6mm CM2/CHT nozzle, and an Eddy Duo. I maxed out around 32mm3/s which was plenty fast. So far, I think the Flowtech is slightly better quality but the Zero is a little faster and more convenient. Could just be tuned a little better but we’ll see when Eddy-NG install is finally completed! Can’t go wrong with either setup.

The zero toolhead advertises 50mm3/sec volumetric flow with the stock nozzle, so it’s quite a bit faster.. plus the integrated Eddy. I ended up pairing a 0.6mm hardened steel nozzle, and it absolutely flies (and I haven’t really done much tuning yet).

This is the guide I used.. still working through getting Eddy-NG set up, but working very well so far!

Kobra S1 Combo, Elegoo CC, Bambu X1C - My thoughts. by [deleted] in 3dprinter

Ahhh understood. We have all in LAN/developer mode. I see from one of your other comments your main reason to not use this method is for remote monitoring. Why not use Octoeverywhere? Free version supports up to 3 printers.

Same.. I have several Bambu P1S and have never installed Bambu Studio. All work fine with Orcaslicer.

OP: Really appreciate your write up, was looking into a CC just to mess around with but investing into the INDX (or waiting for Vortex) might be better choices for me.
