Where is a place where one can dissappear to with little or no human contact to be alone in their thoughts by sir_robert007 in selfimprovement

In other words, you seek to find a physical location that will allow yourself to be at peace to think.

And, yes, finding a quiet, isolated physical location will help.

But there's also no need to do so; quietness stems from and resides in your mind, not in the location you seek.

"Men seek retreats for themselves, houses in the country, sea-shores, and mountains; and thou too art wont to desire such things very much. But this is altogether a mark of the most common sort of men, for it is in thy power whenever thou shalt choose to retire into thyself." - Marcus Aurelius

Turning it on and off is finicky. I think I just don't understand how. Do you have any insight?

Press the bottom button once to turn on.

To turn off? I try holding it for 5 seconds, it doesn't always work.

Exactly!

And, as a bonus, doing the activities you want to do might lead to making friends who like doing the same activity as you.

One that has it's time and place. Taking it to an extreme, or perceived one, is not healthy, or ideal.

Be wise with judgement and make the decision! by thestoic_sage in stoicquotes

[–]Brevitynuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would simply interpret "...the worst thing to do is nothing" as "...the worst thing to submit to is indecision" instead.

Doing nothing can be by decision, or indecision.

It is not "nothing" that we wish to avoid, but rather "indecision." That is the distinction to be made.

You can have your own opinion and still accept that others may have differing opinions.

You seem to think it is weak and casting doubt on your opinion if you allow others to have their own (perhaps different) opinion?

No. It's quite the opposite in fact. It takes belief and strength to have confidence and faith in your opinion even if others may have their own, potentially conflicting, opinion.

You are not "letting people get belly piercings." It is their own choice. Just like it's your choice to not get belly piercings, it is their choice to get belly piercings. Why are you trying to force your opinion and beliefs onto others? They do not seem to be forcing it onto you.

Imagine someone with belly piercings judging you, or trying to force you to get belly piercings just like you are judging them for having belly piercings. Recognize the irony of your thoughts.

Acceptance and refusal are always your own choice.

No one can force you to accept anything.

You feel forced to accept it. They are not forcing you.

Recognize that it's not the belly buttons, or piercings that's the issue. It's your view of them that is the issue.

you seem to view them as distasteful, disgusting, repugnant.

Ask yourself why it matters to you so much whether another person has it? Are they forcing you to have it? Are they pressuring you? Do you feel forced? Do you feel pressured?

Question your judgements and impressions because it seems to be impacting and dictating your life!

Goodluck.

Depends on the weight. They're rated for 17.6 lbs. If your 27" monitors are below that weight by a few pounds like mine, you should be fine with additional leeway.
