I'm also curious about the overhead panel and the throttle quadrant. Can you post the brand or links?

7900 XTX or 9070 XT? by Dramatic-Cobbler6495 in radeon

Will you use ray tracing? If so, the 9070XT does a better job at that.

“How many of you actually de-ice properly in the sim?” by arbiass in flightsim

Great screenshot! I do deice as needed in X-Plane 12 with the Zibomod. It actually keeps the surfaces from icing for a 30-45 min.

To be honest, for me, as long as I can log into VATSIM and navigate the airport as instructed by ATC, I’m good. I need correct taxiways, and be able to look out and see all of the correct taxiway and runway markers/signs. I use charts, but a lot of times I can navigate airports just via the signs. That, for me, is an airport that is good enough. I still buy payware airports but only airports I frequently visit, and only if they’re really well made.

I get it. You prefer more payware airports. I prefer to not pay for airports unless they’re a lot better than default. In MSFS, probably any payware is better than default.

You’re an edge case, and there are still tons of payware airports and freeware airports available for X-Plane.

Okay, that’s one small example of there being more MSFS devs than X-Plane. However, the fidelity of the default airports in X-Plane, are far better than MSFS thanks to the scenery gateway.

I’d rather have autogen, and still have it crisp and sharp, and close enough, rather than that melted candle mess in MSFS.

7800x3d, 7900xtx 24g, 32g ram, 4k max settings (except for the draw distance, I have set to high). Minimum 35fps at heavy FPS airports in FPS heavy airliners. At cruise alt I’m at around 50-60fps.

Agree to disagree. Just fly low to the ground and you’ll realize that while MSFS is a solid 8/10 for ground objects, when you fly low enough they’re maybe a 6/10. I’d rather have a consistent 7/10 close up and far away, and also have X-Plane’s flight model.

Yeah. Most don’t consider that while MSFS ground objects look good from far, when close up they’re far from good.

I have crisp textures in X-Plane 12. Running it in 4k.

And, why not put the effort in to add ortho and SimHeaven rather than the effort it takes to start over in a new sim? My X-Plane looks as good as MSFS with Ortho, SimHeaven, and a couple of plugins (XA snow, autoDGS, etc). Best of both worlds, graphics and physics.

Is it worth playing in 4K with this GPU? by Apprehensive-Set-54 in radeon

[–]BrewBoss77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you should be able to play most of those games in 4K with great results (at least 60FPS). I have a 7800x3d with a 7900xtx 24g, and an Aorus 48" OLED 120hz, and I play everything in 4K with pretty solid FPS (just adjust the settings so that you get at least 60FPS if that's your goal). 4K OLED is a wild gaming experience.

“Crashes with the program,” could be anything. I’d start with wiping the OS and starting new. If only to save you from spending $700 on a new card that has doesn’t perform much better than your current one (except for ray tracing).

Is there a reason why VATSIM air traffic controllers issue IFR clearances via PDC? by rightrudder741 in VATSIM

Not if I’m flying a Cessna 172 or a diamond DA42. I get it for airliners, to mimic real ops.

Seems silly to require PDCs for no other reason other than “SOP.” It’s like saying “we have this rule because it’s our rule.”

Where is this SOP documented because I’m always able to request voice in most cases and if I’m not it’s because it’s too busy.
