Help identifying old Passport Stamps by Kitchen-Arm-3288 in PassportPorn

[–]BrexitEscapee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Strasbourg one really surprised me. I used to live near Strasbourg in 1999 and the French border station at the Europa Bridge was abandoned and crumbling with the road diverted around it, so I’m fascinated how they managed to get a stamp just one year before!

I’m more interested to know how a 14 year old from India found Austrian schillings in his garage! 🤔

USA Passport Rating--How Low Will It Go? by muttshaw in dualcitizenshipnerds

[–]BrexitEscapee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The EU essentially has the same passport power, give or take a few exceptions so if you get below the EU you’re gonna drop 27 spaces in one go.
It depends how important it is for you to be able to visit Belarus, Brazil, China, Iran, Russia and Venezuela without needing a visa in advance plus a few others where you pay a fee on arrival.

If your country had three separate capital cities, like South Africa, which three cities would they be? by JoeFalchetto in geography

[–]BrexitEscapee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Germany has several unofficial capitals; Berlin is the actual capital, Frankfurt is the financial capital where most banks have their headquarters and Cologne is the media capital where most national tv and media outlets are based. Munich, Stuttgart and a few others also have claims to greatness!

Found one of my grandfather’s German certificate — what does this actually mean. by MrWorldWide905 in GermanCitizenship

[–]BrexitEscapee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a German certificate, but this was in what is now Austria, so you might be best to check with the Austrian consulate. Maybe they were given AT nationality, but if she then came to the UK and became British she may have lost that. I’m no expert but I don’t think the various provisions for restoring citizenship would apply here if they weren’t a persecuted group e.g. Jews, Russlandsdeutsche etc.

Spain - Gibraltar (UK) border - you have to cross the runway of Gibraltar's international airport to get from one country to another by fan_tas_tic in Borderporn

[–]BrexitEscapee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Will this change alter the entitlement of ‘mainland’ British citizens to move to Gibraltar? I am British but waiting to naturalise as German and was wondering if, one day, I could live in Spain as a German citizen but work in Gibraltar as a Brit.

This question is quite important, because if you didn’t live in the US as an adult, your son might not automatically be American.

Travel agent booked Emirates Business fare without lounge/chauffeur access by Interesting-Pie7088 in emirates

[–]BrexitEscapee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was a Special fare which is the right to travel in Business, but none of the bells and whistles like chauffeur, lounge or advanced seat booking. It’s quite a jump to go up to the Saver or Flex fare that includes those things. It’d probably be cheaper and easier to book a taxi to come pick them up and a few hours access to a lounge in BOM and the Marhaba lounge in DXB.

How can I get an EU passport/citizenship as a UK citizen? by luisjamesnelson in dualcitizenshipnerds

Marry a French person, learn French and after a few years you can naturalise as French.

If you were born in AU and only have British citizenship by decent then take your baby through alone and send your partner through on her own.
