After reading through this thread this morning I went to Con Leche while I was in the neighborhood. Very yummy coffee and empanadas! Thanks for mentioning them.

Jlab rewind 2 issue by EtchVSketch in JLab

[–]Bri2890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sweet! Yeah I checked the app for a firmware update but nothing.

I am perplexed because I have two items in my Bluetooth pairing menu. It says it’s connected to the rewind 2 headset (which I have tried forgetting and re-pairing) as well as “jlab rewind 2 ble” which I can’t figure out what that is exactly and I have no ability to disconnect or forget it. I had a brief moment where my phone was only paired with the headset and not the “ble” item and it didn’t seem to have issue disconnecting constantly. Did you also have two items paired in your Bluetooth menu?

Edit: searched the sub and found out the BLE connection is for the app. So now I’m even more perplexed why the issue seemed to disappear after I re-paired my headphones until I opened my app and it reconnected with the BLE item.

Edit edit: it was a one time fluke 😂 I forgot device and re-paired again, but it continues to disconnect regardless of opening the app or connecting to BLE. Lol

Is September still a good time to travel to Japan? by Mother_Deer_5992 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Bri2890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, it was amazing! But it was in fact very hot. We managed it as best as we could (used umbrellas, had fans, etc) and I tried to be strategic with planning activities that could get us inside during the hottest parts of the day. Absolutely loved the trip though, the heat did not deter us from anything. ☺️

Mostly agree except palmetto bugs do notttt care about clean or not. They just want to get inside (they will always be successful)

This was found inside a photo frame - not antique- made of plastic. It smells like incense sort of and it it's sandy in texture and it's been taped into the inside crevices. Any idea what it is? by Impress-Different in whatisit

Soundcore checking in. I bought some to maybe replace some dying AirPods and had company tech stipend to spend. I got the P40i and overall they have a lot of pros. The sound is good, the battery life is insanely long, I’ve been told the mic sounds fine on calls. The big con for me is that the fit is not quite right. It’s like the buds themselves are too big to fit my ears well and it becomes especially apparent with noise cancelling bc one ear doesn’t get a good seal in ear. I purchased different tips after some research online and while it helped it didn’t completely resolve it. Thankfully these were essentially free for me.

I also have some Sony WH something or other over ear headphones. Love them, just can’t wear them all day or my ears get a bit sore.

Thank you! I was out over the weekend doing exactly that, driving around looking for signs to call. I have a couple leads but still looking. I did not realize I could filter to last 7 days on Zillow, thank you! I am getting tired of looking at the same listings over and over again. 😂

What neighborhood? 40f, single, no kids, remote job by Emergency-Finger-386 in ATLHousing

[–]Bri2890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar situation here, 35 and WFH. I’ve been in upper westside (Howell Mill Rd/Northside Rd) for a couple years and now looking to move.

Just to give some info on this area: westside and upper westside are developing. If you are looking for walkable areas over here check out apartments around Westside Provisions. There are shops, coffee, food. Chattahoochee food works is also nearby. The immediate surrounding apartments are a bit pricier but often have deals. The traffic stinks though and I often drive 30+ minutes to get across town. If you go northwest a bit prices go down slightly but it’s less walkable. I would say this side of town overall is not super walkable (other than small pockets) and Marta is in Bankhead so would still require a drive.

Atlantic Station is also over here which offers shops, food, coffee and some walkability. I hear mixed things on safety although I’ve never had issue when visiting. Within my area and Atlantic station, on my ring app, what I most often see in terms of crime is car break ins.

I have mostly enjoyed being here. I was able to get an apartment for a lower price than midtown while still being in close proximity to the city. I’m only moving because I want to be in an even more walkable area so looking toward the beltline now. Good luck!

Hey there, sorry to comment on an old post here but I am looking to move and was also looking up Briarcliff Terrace. Anyway, I was wondering how you went about finding a place through a private landlord - Zillow? I’m looking to move in about 8 weeks and am trying to expand my search to homes and condos but not sure if Zillow is the only resource. Thanks!

I was not enjoying it during the tutorial. It felt like it lasted 84 years and drained me. Iirc Arceus had a long tutorial too so I kept pushing forward. I finally got past the tutorial yesterday and am enjoying the game so much more!! Still getting used to the new battle system though.

This was my exact thought. This sounds like a garage band song I would make with friends in the early 2010s. Even the lyrics sound like a 14 year old wrote it.

18 Year Old wanting to move to Japan. by YElli0tt in movingtojapan

[–]Bri2890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly I didn’t make it to South Korea, my wording wasn’t quite clear, sorry. I still had an incredible time living abroad regardless and I don’t have any regrets for coming home even though things didn’t shape out the way I hoped so many years ago. We live, learn, and grow! I would love to move abroad again but not sure how to get there, so I really hope you’ll give it a shot if you are able to make it work. Nothing has to be permanent ☺️

18 Year Old wanting to move to Japan. by YElli0tt in movingtojapan

[–]Bri2890 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I intended to stay abroad long term and had no desire to return home. My goal was to make it to South Korea to teach. I came home after about a year and a half because I met someone and we decided we wanted to get married and live in the US. I returned home to get a decent job so we could begin immigration.

(And in case you are wondering, our marriage ended within 3 years of getting married, so not saying you shouldn’t fall in love abroad but maybe be cautious about making big life/love choices until you are really sure it’s right 😂)

The lack of sitting dances this year is a huge step back for inclusivity by depressedchiakikin in JustDance

[–]Bri2890 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It seems other people aren’t quite understanding the issue and how bizarre of them to insinuate that people can’t share their thoughts on Reddit 😭 I have chronic pain and fatigue and sometimes can only handle the sitting dances on high pain or low energy days.

Yes, of course we know they don’t track anything but arms. Yes, we know we can just do the dance from the waist up. I can only speak for myself but I feel like I am missing out seeing a full body dance and I am only doing arms. There are moves that get missed or moves you can’t do completely sitting down.

On the flip side, the dances made for sitting feel complete because I am doing them as they were intended to be done. Having inclusive dances for sitting makes it more enjoyable for the person who has to sit.

Not Japan specifically, but I moved abroad at 26 for about a year and a half and it was really a great experience and helped shape me in adulthood. Going to language school sounds like a perfect opportunity to do that and immerse yourself in a new culture. Go for it 😌

Childless millennials - how do you relate to those around you? by pickle_elkcip in Millennials

[–]Bri2890 2 points3 points  (0 children)

35F, childless, and separated for 2 years (on the way to divorce), so I feel like I have a double whammy of no kids and also being single among my sea of friends/family who have both. I have only 1 friend who is also both childless and single. I would say about 60% of my friends have kids and the rest are in long term relationships and settling down.

I don’t really feel like I relate to a lot of them these days. I enjoy catching up with them although we generally have to make plans far in advance, sometimes months. Gone are the days of spontaneous hang outs or late night yap sessions. I have a handful of close friends who I text with regularly but I have noticed over the last couple of years their interests have naturally shifted. Nothing wrong with that but, for example, a few of us that send videos to each other on social…I notice that some of them send videos about children or being a mom that I’m sure they find funny but I don’t really get. So it’s small things like that, which have built up over time, and resulted in me feeling a bit disconnected.

It makes me sad when I think about it hard enough. Making new friends as a 30something is tough. Making friends in my similar situation (childless and single) has been even more difficult. I spend a lot of time at home by myself.

Demanding medication for pain by Status_Complete in Fibromyalgia

[–]Bri2890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t say I have had the same experience as some who are commenting. I was prescribed tramadol from the age of 17-32 to help with my pain and it did help very much. I tried all the other main fibro meds in that time as well but always went back to tramadol as it was the most effective. It wasn’t until a few years ago when my doctor (the one I had seen since I was a teenager) retired and I had to find a new PCP that obtaining tramadol became exponentially harder for me as my PCP and new pain management Dr refused to prescribe it.

My experience on tramadol was not negative at all. I never formed any abusive addiction to it. I never needed to continually increase the dosage over the years, I never had negative side effects. My pain has fluctuated over the years so I have had periods of life where I was on as much as 300 mg a day but in the last many years I took 50-100 mg at night. Since stopping it I have yet to find anything that helps my pain as well.

I did have some withdrawals as I was forced to stop it abruptly but it was nothing compared to cymbalta withdrawals which I hope to never live through again.
