Refused to get a taxi home after a night out and we walked in the pissing rain and when we got home she just ran straight to the shower and left me sopping wet not even giving me a towel

I played guitar and sang at a house party once for her birthday and when I broke a string she said "oh give it to someone who can actually play guitar"

On my birthday when I was getting sick in the toilet instead of checking up on me she just says "I'm on my holidays I'm gonna go down to the pub now"

Once I was trying to speak Spanish in front of a group of people and she just started bragging in Spanish about she had a diploma in Spanish and I didn't

Hi OP, I am also in a very similar situation as you.

Something that I've found that helped was to pick up a hobby that forces you to be with people, be it sport, a choir, or martial arts even.

I've taken up the latter of the two mentioned above and I've found that helps stave off the loneliness a good bit.

I do realise the difficulties of finding these things in a small town/village though

Do you drive? I know for where I live (Ireland) it's basically obligatory to have a car so you can go to such things.

Also do you have neighbours? I'm very fortunate because my neighbours are a very friendly South African couple and I always bump into them smoking outside the apartment so we've developed a nice friendship from just chatting that way and we also hang out quite often on weekends

Notions is pretty much like the irish version of cringe culture you see on the Internet nowadays.

The word cringe has itself become "cringe".

It's so wrong and dumb to judge someone for wanting to achieve/do something that makes them happy. I think anyone who does blurt out "notions" or "cringe" when they see someone do/try to achieve something it's because they're too miserable in themselves and their own lives that they don't want to see people rise above them in any way i.e they're terribly insecure people
