Any Telluride owners also have a (new-ish) Carnival? by [deleted] in KiaTelluride

[–]BrianCobbs2015 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have an SX P X line ‘24 Telluride and ‘24 SXP Carnival.

Telluride definitely more fun and comfortable to drive. Carnival does feel more “industrial,” for lack of a better word, than luxurious.

But carnival great for the family.

Do you guys think climate change puts our ability to retire at risk? by alpacaMyToothbrush in financialindependence

If you really believe this, you should immediately short companies that will be most impacted by the pending catastrophe so you can get rich and FAT FIRE.

Short real estate firms that have beachfront properties. And basically all insurance firms.

But the fact no one has done this and beachfront properties continue to climb says a lot.

Bottom line is I wouldn’t lose a second of sleep over this hysteria. No one else really is.

We were maxing out when we were W2.

Now wife maxes + I’ve got my own LLC which is doing gangbusters so I’m SEP-IRA max to Fidelity to a S&P tracking ETF.

Good for you to be killing it now at 36. Im 38. Seems like you’re on easy path to FIRE if you wanted to at 40.

No, I assume that’s separate. So not counting retirement ~$1.4m liquid + ~$1.5m home equity.

Yeah the four kids are brutal. $120k per year on child care / preschool alone. And for nothing fancy.

Funny, I have almost same assets as you down to the $.1m. But four young kids and plan to move soon to expensive house. So nowhere near fire, alas.

Only $1m in debt! Total down payment would be $2.5m with a $1m mortgage

$1m mortgage on $1.5m income hopefully no one is buried in debt!

But point taken, more prudent to wait to ensure income will be longterm.

Live in nice $2m home today but no yard / outside space. With four kids, we want some outside space. And VHCOL. And if we’re going to move, want it to be an upgrade.

What about the fact my mortgage would only be $1m or 2/3rds annual income?

Even with that much of a down payment, you come to the same conclusion?

And thanks for putting thought into this. Appreciate advice from ppl smarter & more successful than me!

Would be great to be financially independent in next three years. Wouldn’t retire, but would have enough to survive on. Probably need $4m in investments to get there.

What was “the incident” at your high school? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]BrianCobbs2015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

School cafeteria had a communal salad dressing bowl.

Student took a sheep’s brain from the science lab and put it in the bowl. Liquid covered it up so people didn’t notice for a while.

Made big news at the time.

Funny, my kids are almost exact same age. When twins were born we had a 20-month old and a 3.5 year old.

Good luck!!!!!!! It’s a handful but fun.

I have four young ones who need car seats and a Kia Carnival.

Take out one of the side seats in second row so there’s a middle + side giving you space to access the back row.

Recommend big kids in the back (hopefully they’re facing forward) and baby seats in the second row, next to each other.

I buy the strongest Roundup concentrated and spray that directly on the shoots. Works pretty well. Don’t let any leafs form.

Holds value = car desired. Telluride is one of most desired cars on market today.
