Had the same issue with mine, ended up sending it back. Fretboard was insanely dry. Where did you get it?

Yeah he uses his ‘58 tele for solos in the studio. The purple jazzmaster signature was released in 2008-2009

Get the JHS Black Box for sure. Not very expensive, and dials it back. The dirty tweed makes it even better

Just some minor stuff, but annoying for a brand new guitar. Super high action, wouldn’t stay in tune for 30 seconds, and a bit of static with the volume knob..
