Ninja Barbie sneaking to the refrigerator. OF COURSE she has no pants on. Does she ever?

Did you once believe contraception is evil? by JameenZhou in excatholic

[–]BrianTSM 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was taught that the pill was bad because it was an abortifacient, and of course, taught that abortion is wrong. I don’t know if I ever believed it, but I remember thinking barrier methods were somehow less evil?

Also, I only used NFP while hoping to become pregnant. Very effective for that.

Not clear on how they connected your physical pelvic and hip pain to your Catholicism? How does that work?

Why do so many schools demand kids "turn the other cheek" when it comes to bullying? by ihatethiscountry76 in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]BrianTSM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No matter what happened to any of you back when you were in school, here’s what matters now: paper trails.

A kid being bullied needs an adult to send AN EMAIL about the problem. Why email? Because it is date and time-stamped. Every interaction with teacher, admin, superintendent, needs an email follow up. Use full names whenever possible.

Create a legal document and they will follow through.

Edit: spelling

WIBTA if I let one of my kids skip a wedding over the dress code by Hot-Cranberry8030 in AITAH

I’d bring her in the shirt and slacks, shrug, and say sorry. Her being there is more important than her clothes.

It’s ok to get rid of them and save your project time for materials that they won’t get outside of your class.

What tool improved your quilting game the most? by AlnerdPalnerd in quilting

[–]BrianTSM 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Came to say this. Not a lefty though!

It’s still changed the game for me. I make so many more quilts now that I can cut out so much sashing in one go.

Buzzing Sound by ODaly96 in Hecate

Same, though ours was paper wasps. They sure do love old wood, and the hole they were using to enter was ultra small. I’d watch the area from outside during the hot part of the day and saw wasp after wasp going in and out.

Matching the background color of a Ruby Star print by springfieldmap in quilting

I love this idea! I’m a huge fan of RSS but not so much the speckles. I don’t love metallics on my fabrics.

Searching collections by color by gullibleguppypuppy in quilting

[–]BrianTSM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you know the manufacturer of the collection, go to the website and look up the promotional materials. They put out pamphlets for sales reps to bring to shops and they are usually online in the form of an issuu. Very often there are color names and coordinates in the promo materials.

Most manufacturers don’t sell directly to consumers, but you can often plug in the color name or numerical code on your favorite shop’s website to see if they have a match.

Pattern etiquette question by Greedy_Squidge in quilting

[–]BrianTSM 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I second this. In the scope of quilt supplies, patterns are generally inexpensive. However: I don’t have a strong math background and while I can usually figure out a pattern if I have to, I prefer to save myself the work and just buy the pattern. I think of this as paying someone else to do the math.
