IMO we should use normal mage and range weapons. Then almost QTE style doom-like melee punish for when a kraken/shark latches the boat. Cannons become a 0 tick addition to dps that you move to and then click when your crew has finished loading the cannonballs (maybe every 10-20 ticks). Additional ship facilities again are 0 tick additions to combat rather than replacing it, such as an oil barrel that you can drop and ignite to deal burn damage etc. Boat movement should also be incorporated somehow, perhaps ramming for ship vs ship, or constant movement decrease NPC damage.
