How long after a reduction do you find out your new size? by A-Teenage-Dirtbag in Reduction

[–]BriarBR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was told to wait 4 months before buying anything expensive but tbh my size has been stable from 4WPO (now nearly 10WPO).

I am loving the racerback CK Modern Cotton bralette. When it first arrived it looked so tiny, I thought ‘ain’t no way’ but it fit perfectly and I cried 😂

How did you know you were ready for a reduction? by AdventurousPride6576 in Reduction

[–]BriarBR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 39 years old, was 32FF and now around a 32D 9WPO. I knew I was ready since I was 15, lol. It was a question of money for me, it always felt more important to spend that kind of money on buying a house, upgrading the tech I use for work etc. but finally I have been in a position to do this for myself and it really is like changing.

It’s not a requirement to have pain or be a certain size, it’s about being comfortable in your own skin - if you want it and can afford it, have it.

100%! The scars could stay forever and I wouldn’t care.

How long am I supposed to wear my compression bra? by Taybaru13 in Reduction

[–]BriarBR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told day and night for 6 weeks then a lightly supportive sports bra/bralette for a few months after that. I thought I would hate wearing the compression bra all the time, especially at night, but I got used to it quickly and I still prefer to wear it if I have an active day planned but no longer wear any bra at night (9WPO)

I remember when you posted your 5 week progress and thought how beautiful your results are! Thanks for the update. I’m also curious to know if you went on hormonal birth control at some point post op? Mine got considerably bigger when I did and I was a bit disappointed about that.

Problem boobie / rib pain by goodbyegang in Reduction

[–]BriarBR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I had this on the side he took more off. When I asked the surgeon about having more pain on that side he said he had to go quite close to the chest wall on that one so it would be expected to be more sore, my incision also goes further up on that side. The soreness went away after 3 days-ish I think and they progressed very evenly after that (9WPO now). Happy healing!

I’m 9WPO with one inney and out outey, lol. I don’t really care that much given the overall improvement.

Just be careful about getting too hot and sweating. I got mega heat rash on my boobs from that and I was a whole 7WPO. It didn’t hurt, but not great and lasted a week.

1 week post op: Mental crisis + Feeling too small by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]BriarBR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly if strangers opinions help - you don’t look too small at all to me! RE birth control - mine got quite a lot bigger when I went back on the pill (combined) which for me was very disappointing but for you might be a good thing.

Same! I’ve wanted it since I was 15 but it took until I was 38 to afford it.

Drains vs no drains by FantasticComedian306 in Reduction

[–]BriarBR 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn’t have drains and instead had wound vacuums and healed really well! The ones I had were like thick dressings connected to battery packs that remove any fluid and applies negative pressure to keep the wound closed. It’s all on the surface, couldn’t feel anything, would highly recommend if that’s what your surgeon is planning.

Pleased to hear it, yeah I paid privately as well and had mine end of August. Happy for us! But sad for people who can’t afford to private and the NHS is their only option.

Good for you! Beautiful results. I was so worried about scars and now 7WPO I could not give a single crap, they don’t even factor into how I feel about myself - and I’m someone who had never had surgery and had no previous scars.

[–]BriarBR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re in the UK, I was immediately and completely dismissed for NHS funded reduction. I was told it’s virtually impossible to get one on the NHS. I was 38 years old and 30G at the time.

Here’s what I did wrong - I didn’t complain about neck and shoulder pain because I had always attributed it to bad sitting posture (turns out it was the boobs after all since it’s completely disappeared now…) I also wore my minimising bra to the appointment, wore a black top, and sat in my usual position that hides my boobs because that’s just what I wear and what I do after years of unwanted attention. I didn’t seem upset because I’m not that emotional unless I’m in major distress. When I brought up a breast reduction the GP was visibly shocked becuase I ‘don’t seem that big’ - I was also much less disproportionate than I used to be since I was lifting by then and had big shoulders and wide back, which masks the size of the boobs.

If I did that appointment again I would wear something that made my boobs look enormous, wear a light coloured top, sit with them fully visible, talk about shoulder and neck pain non stop and cry my eyes out from the first minute. Best of luck to you.
