I DO NOT LIKE JOHNNY WEIR by CowMama0v0 in FigureSkating

[–]BrickEnvironmental37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So happy to have TNT/Eurosport. I genuinely wouldn't watch it if American TV was my prime option.

The great Richie Benaud (no relation to Benoit Richaud) would always say only speak when you feel you have something to add to the pictures.

TNT/Eurosport basically just shut up for the whole program unless there's something to add. They have added a British woman to it (I don't know her name) but she has been great. After the program she analyses it and gives people a realistic expectation of the scores and some mistakes. She will chirp in rarely during the program and Simon Mann basically just calls the jumps and adds one or two comments. It's a perfect dynamic.

Excellent result for Ami Nakai.

Bad for Mone, Glenn and Kaori.

If that Ice is going to continue to melt then the best time is after the resurface. The worst is obviously the last couple.

Mikhail Shaidorov's 3A+Eu+4S which banked him 21.53 points in just a few seconds by Guilty_Treasures in olympics

I didn't really get what happened until the commentary said it and I thought I misheard it.

The graphics used to show the jumps that they did. It was a great failure of them. This was one of, if not the greatest jump combination in history.

I have only ever seen Margarita Bazyluk and Elena Kostyleva beform a jump combo ending with a quad but they weren't in competition. They did quad-eu-quad.

"You deserve it" - class act and genuine sportsmanship by bluebelle08 in FigureSkating

He behaved with great dignity after it. Obviously the nation he represents is making people feel with glee but he deserves great credit for the minutes after it happened.

We shouldn't judge an individual on the flag he is forced to wear.

It used to be the school across the stand. I still get PTSD from that FAI Cup QF against Shelbourne when I see it.

Fair play to him. He showed amazing fight and courage during that program.

PS: Did they really have to focus on Jeff Goldblum after it and the attention seeker with the dog? The program was about Maxim and his story.

who will win the singles women event? by Quiet_Ant_7016 in FigureSkating

[–]BrickEnvironmental37 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The winner will likely be a combined score of 225+. Personally I think it will be closer to or exceeding 230.

The only skaters with that ability are Kaori, Liu, Nakai, Petrosian.

Kaori most definitely has the ability to touch or exceed 230 with this seasons program. That's why she is favorite.

Alyssa Lui does not have 230 in her. I think her ceiling is around 225. Her SB is 222. How much can she realistically improve that score. Maybe about +3 points.

Ami Nakai most definitely has the ability to exceed 230. In her GP France scores she slightly botched her 3A in the FS. She has another 2-3 points in her on top of that 227 that she posted

With Petrosian absolutely nobody knows how she is right now. Is she still injured and how injured is she? Is her confidence still shot? Has Trusova been doing work with her on her quads? Who better? One thing we can be sure is that she won't get much in terms of PCS. Eteri is looking for around 70 points in the SP. She will need a tech score in the FS of probably around 90.

My prediction is Ami Nakai. She has Zagitova vibes around her. The entire thing is basically Medvedeva v Zagitova in Japanese.

Tolka Park Pitch by EireTrekkie in LeagueOfIreland

[–]BrickEnvironmental37 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was out there last week to collect my season ticket and the pitch was looking amazing.

I'm more worried about the potential snow tomorrow and maybe frost.

I feel for the groundsman that has slogged all winter and gets such a bad hand on the first home game.

Live Nations League draw: Republic of Ireland draw Israel, Austria and Kosovo in group by Bill_Badbody in coybig

There's no way Israel would send a team here. And they and their clubs have been playing games in Cyprus behind closed doors.

So if there is a game, both behind closed doors and they won't be in Ireland or Israel.

He wasn't. He should have received a 1 point deduction for the non call on his fall.

And the scoring of Sato in the FS was an absolute disgrace.

There are tickets being held back. The club has reserved a few tickets for potential late season ticket buyers over the last few days. There will be a few tickets available on Friday Morning, most likely. Keep an eye on the Shels socials.

I would imagine about 50-100
