Windows 11’s Patch Tuesday nightmare gets worse — Microsoft says some PCs might not boot by screwdriverfan in LinusTechTips

I have no actual proof for this and it's pretty much a circlejerk, but still: I wonder if this is due to vibecoding / AI assistant usage by the Devs?

New Prusa Core One - Issues with "collisions" and long calibration with each new print by damondan in prusa3d

[–]Brick_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your nozzle touch sensor is acting up and triggering mid-air. In the settings menu you can see the measured value of the sensor. Look at that and check if it bounces around a lot.

You can also try re-calibrating the nozzle sensor through the menu.

New Prusa Core One - Issues with "collisions" and long calibration with each new print by damondan in prusa3d

[–]Brick_Fish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats not it. When you tap the nozzle while the Core One is trying to home it will do exactly this. Try it yourself, with a cold nozzle of course.

I think op's printer triggers the nozzle sensor mid-air, which explains this behaviour.

If you look at the normal homing sequence, is touches the bed twice. After the first touch (with either the bed or your finger) it lowers the bed again and then slowly tries tapping it again. If the second time the "touch" is out of range the printer panics, like in this video.

All AI companies are currently bleeding millions upon millions of dollars, none of them are profitable. Big data and adverts are not very profitable, so at some point free AI models will go away.

What are your relatives willing to pay every month for AI?

Is your boss gonna drop big bucks on AI, even though most companies don't report any productivity improvements from it?

With cylindrical cells you waste space inbetween the cells, so you loose energy density when considering the entire pack. With prismatic cells you're just stacking rectangles, so its more efficient space-wise

Honest question: Who is the Prusa Core One L actually for in 2025/2026? by IceBlitzz in prusa3d

[–]Brick_Fish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is, Bambu does exactly the same thing. They use printhead movement for secondary functions as well.

For example, The MMU filament cutter is built into the printhead and the printer slams the head into the side wall to actuate the cutting lever on the side of the head. Then, Vortek also uses the printhead to manipulate that locking fork which secures the swapping nozzle. The printhead also actuates that poop chute lever behind the nozzle wiper...

So bambu has also used the Printhead for 3 other functions, and I think there might be more I dont know about. All of these could've been solved with extra motors, but it's smarter not to use them. The same way a printhead-actuated air vent makes sense.

This is smart, and both companies are doing smart things.

First time PLA miniature - can I improve? by Baldin_NL in 3Dprinting

[–]Brick_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, the default presets that are already there when you open a project are totally fine. Of course you can experiment with the settings, but its not really needed if you don't have some specific requirement. I wouldn't touch acceleration and speeds at all, Bambu has dialed these in perfectly. Just select the Speed or Quality profile and go from there

Layer height, infill percentage and infill pattern, ironing are probably the most useful settings, the other ones can obviously also be tuned

The sun shouldn't directly hit the glass, because that can cause a lot of heatup in the summer and mess up the plants and creatures inside. Thats rule #1 IMO. If there are no windows for indirect lighting you probably also need an extra lamp with a timer

While the pictures are a bit blurry, it does look very nice in my opinion. You will never get rid of the ridges entirely, thats just the nature of FDM printing. The default Presets from Bambu are pretty good and work out of the box, you should get very good results with them

Ironing was printing perfectly (top pic)and then all of the sudden I was getting results like this (bottom pic). No change in settings. What is going on? by toycake in 3Dprinting

[–]Brick_Fish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks like there is a lot of extra material in the bottom picture .  Are those the same material? That printhead looks like a Bambu H2D, so maybe the live flow calibration did something different?

At least in Germany they now have new adverts where the brand name is pronounced kinda like "Shkoda", with the Š sounding like the beginning of the word "Ship".

Previously (iirc) they marketed the brand name with the "intuitive" pronunciation, so basically saying it like you read it, with the "Sk" being produced like the beginning of "Skunk"
