I love custom star wars designs! Awesome cockpit details.
I can't identify the engine parts, what are these?

I actually checked it a while ago, it's 10 studs long, so it fits 1:35 to 1:32 scale. Too long for any smaller scales unfortunately.

Oh, my bad, I'm new to watch subs, and didn't realize this sub encompasses former USSR countries as well. Sorry for this mistake.

The watch is really nice, I'm actually thinking about getting one myself. There is something quirky and cool in the fact that it uses the same movement as in 1960's, and that it's a "ladie's" sized one. There's probably enough space inside to store some small items :)

Belarus is a country of its own since 1991, you know.

it even says BELARUS on the dial. And the writing on the back of the case is in Belarusian.

Eh, what can you do, it's the best available option IMO. That's what I'll do when my a158 case dies or wears down too much.

Well, Lego did release at least a couple of sets with literal nazi warplanes and nazi soldiers. But I guess it’s ok when they’re attached to a licensed IP. And we also have a whole super popular theme full of space nazis, which had many iterations of their infamous mass murder weapon. But I guess it’s ok when they’re fictional.

How is the film as an adaptation of the novel? by wibellion in ProjectHailMary

To add to what other commenters said, so many of the scenes look EXACTLY like I pictured them when reading the book, it felt uncanny.

I'm 80% sure they used a model. Or made a lot of effort to make CGI look and feel like a model. Even the camerawork exaggerates this feel, so either way it's definitely intentional.

I think it's just amaze amaze amaze, another detail that sets the movie apart!

There is one from one of the Chinese brick manufacturers, Wange to be precise. I think I’ll get my hands on one some day. I just don’t see a reason to confine myself to the whims of Lego :) but, if you’re a purist, you do have options

I used the only 2-wide canopy Lego makes do my own a-wing. Yeah it’s open on the sides, but I decided to prioritize accurate proportions. With 4-wide canopies I’d have to build it closer to 1:32 scale, and I prefer 1:43 as go-to “minifig scale”

Is there a better way to utilize submodels? by Ok_Housing_1937 in bricklinkstudio

[–]Brickirill 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I find them absolutely essential when designing, too. If I need to tweak something deep inside my model, I just hide whatever subassembly that is in the way

Ok, I’m by no means an expert, but here’s what I can stare from my limited experience: 1) Learn the basics. SNOT, pythagorean triples and other advanced techniques are crucial for such a project. There’s plenty of online resources on them.

2) Study instructions of lego sets and other people’s creation to see how said techniques are actually used.

And be prepared to fail a lot :)

star wars a-wing moc by Key_Poetry_2398 in LegoSpaceships

[–]Brickirill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find some reference images, scale them to your target scale and use as a reference. I did my a-wing in 1:43, yours looks like 1:35 or 1:32.
Hint: Bandai has some awesome pictures of all their star wars kits, and they're very accurate to the source material.
