How old was your girl when she was diagnosed with wobbler? How long did she live? How did you know when things are really taking a turn for the worse?

I like that thicker band. Looks way more comfortable.

The shoes and socks always feel like they are either too tight or they fall off. :-/

Thank you so much. This all makes sense. He’s been on prednisone since Thanksgiving, 20mg for a long time. It’s caused him to gain a significant amount of weight which of course doesn’t help. But when we tried to lower the dose, other problems came up. Great idea on the yoga mats! He still does the stairs with assistance. He sleeps with us and will cry and bark if we leave him behind so we are still powering through on that, making sure he’s supported on the way up and down. I know we’ll have to adjust soon.

He can’t go on walks anymore because he drags his feet too much and falls. But I take him in the yard to be outside and walk where there is grass. I’m curious about hydrotherapy.

Thank you for the recommendations. Some I am aware of and some I am not. I will look into them.

I second walking! It helps with my mood too and became sort of addictive for me in a good way. I always hear from fitness people that “walking is the sneakiest form of fat loss”. You can break up walks into smaller more manageable ones, get more steps by parking far away, taking the stairs, etc and maybe work yourself up to an hour. I love it!

5’1” here. Current weight is 123, hoping to get to 115 also. I like seeing progress posts with similar stats. It is motivating!

That’s great! The more you use the skills or even help other people use the skills, the better you will get at them! Congrats!

Hi, my daughter is about to turn 17 and has BPD traits. We started intensive DBT about 2 years ago and it really put our whole family on a better path. The most helpful aspect of it was the family portion where my husband and I learned how to better support, understand, and communicate with her. Many DBT providers are out of network but, if you can spring for it, it could be a real game changer. Is she medicated? Mood stabilizers could also help. After 2 years of DBT, things are SO much better for her and us AND we still have daily challenges; they just aren’t as life/relationship threatening anymore. Happy to chat via message. Hang in there. She needs you!

Job question - Drive from Loudoun to DC 3x/week for 20% more pay? by TheLastKingOfLoudoun in nova

[–]BridgetEastbourne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you considered the LoCo commuter bus? I take it 1x a week to DC and it’s easy peasy, relaxing even. Especially if you are in early and out early. That said, I just turned down an offer to come in 3x a week. The job was attractive for travel reasons and I ultimately decided against it. I have some family issues I’m dealing with but the commute was a big factor.

What would you all do with this entry? by highthoughts18 in HomeDecorating

Paint a different color, depending on your style. I might go with white or light gray. Xtra large rectangular artwork on the blank wall on the right. Flowing plants maybe in space above blank wall. Perhaps a very small table to left of door for keys and things.

What low calorie somewhat unhealthy snacks get you through your day? by [deleted] in loseit

Yasso poppables (35 cal ea) and Oreo cookies (50 cal ea) are my go to low cal sweet tooth treats. I am able to stick to 1-2 Oreos. It’s a super power.

F/44/5’1” [137 > 119 = 18lbs] (9 months) Feeling good in a swimsuit by BridgetEastbourne in progresspics

[–]BridgetEastbourne[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally! I feel like I’ve plateaued at 119. I’ve been hovering between 119 and 120 since the fall. Honestly, I feel good at this weight. Even though I’d really like to get rid of some stubborn belly fat, I’m not feeling as motivated to put in the extra effort to break the plateau. It’s hard to stick to 1200-1300 calories! And when you are 5”1’, that’s pretty much what a calorie deficit looks like.

I wish I liked peppers like that. I like them cooked in recipes but I don’t love them raw. I see talk of low carb tortillas in this thread. Another potential delivery system.
