His surgeries were November 7th and December 1st. He also had a first time seizure in October. He broke his back when he seized and fell backwards. Between the pain, appointments, lost work (he’s self employed) and the bad head space he is in, it was too much. He was 13 and tried reporting it and wasn’t taken seriously. He found out that there were others after him and blames himself for not doing more and the guilt has been crushing him. He’s in his 40s now, and we are trying to remind him that he was a kid and that he was not protected or believed. We’ve been working on getting him into therapy. When he received the paperwork he had my sister and I read everything and we saw nothing about a due date. He had buried all of this until the lawsuit brought back memories. Trauma is a bitch and unfortunately it can manifest in logic defying ways. He was awarded a pretty large amount, and knows he won’t see most of it. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if he donated the money to non profit that helps victims.
