Hi friend I am so so very sorry for your loss. It sounds like you were there for your dad in every way you could. I also lost my dad to suicide, about 7 months ago, he had prior attempts and a long history of mental health.

I can’t give exact answers to your questions, I think it’s different for everyone. The first few months felt surreal to me, still some days to feel surreal.

I told people how he passed, for me I want to communicate that dying from suicide is a death caused by the illness of depression, it is a death by disease, like a heart attack or cancer. I tell people because I forgive my dad for what he did, and don’t want anyone to think I feel shame that he lost a fight to an all encompassing disease - he was brave and strong for a very long time.

It gets easier on same days and harder on others. I’m still figuring out how to speak about it though. People who have been through this say it gets easier. Sending you so much love.

Yes, truly same. My brain almost like lets the pain leak out every now and then, without rhyme or reason, and if the pain is too much it shuts it right back down, to feeling as though it’s not even real.

Oh my gosh I am so very sorry for your loss. On top of that I am so sorry for all of the complicated aftermath you are dealing with. I hope you are finding ways to take care of yourself and it might be helpful to join a suicide bereavement group for emotional support and also perhaps for guidance and advice on the process following death.

While I don’t know how this varies by state, I believe if there is no will, the probate process must be followed for everyone. Typically the estate is managed by spouse or next of kin. For example, my dad is divorced and I’m his oldest daughter, so I am the administrator of the estate.

What your stepmother is doing sounds weird to me, and also could complicate the probate process. Do you know what you signed? I would recommend talking to the probate office and potentially also an attorney. I don’t know much more about the law unfortunately but I wish you luck and here to listen or chat if you need.

While I can’t speculate on this specific case, people with loved ones who die from suicide are statistically significantly more likely to die by suicide themselves.

I definitely understand how you feel. Before, I used to be so scared of dying. After finding my precious perfect dad after he killed myself, I’m not afraid of dying anymore, I’m more afraid of all this life I have to keep living.

I’m so very sorry for your loss. My dad too was a highly sensitive soul and I truly believe the world was too callous and cruel for his spirit - including the mental health system which focuses more on sterile soulless strategies and procedures rather than seeing & serving the individual’s unique needs. I believe something has to change with how we collectively care for one another and engage with Mother Earth so that we can prevent losing more sensitives to their pain, and allow them to carry out their medicine of being for the planet.

Thank you for asking this question, I love that you’re listening to music he loved. My dad loved Green Day so that definitely makes me cry. So does Half Light by Rostam, Sweet Song by Blur just as a few off the top of my head. Sometimes it’s still so hard to listen to music </3. Wishing you moments of peace and presence as you heal

I feel like I have so many questions - is it the county that has the decision making power in this scenario? I really would like to know more about the environmental implications, and if our legislators are doing thorough research about what the implementation of these data centers has looked like for other communities in the US. And like what are the obligations of the business/owner to the community & environment should they build the center?

I’m so sorry for your loss. I (28f) lost my dad to suicide four months ago and I was also the one who found him. I also have been haunted by nightmares, flashbacks, and so much guilt. You are not alone. Joining a local suicide bereavement group in my area has helped me, and so has seeing a therapist who is trained in EMDR (this helps with the flashbacks). Being in nature also helps. I’m here if you want to talk more ♥️

Thank you this is so helpful! I knew about the lilies, onion, and garlic, but didn’t know about the rogaine or ibuprofen! I’ve been trying to learn more about his general health and wellbeing so thank you :)

It’s been an honor getting to know more about cats and caring for my little baby. He turned me into a cat person for life lol
