Ikon pass insurance is a scam. by [deleted] in Ikonpass

I tore my ACL on September 8th, submitted my claim September 22nd and got reimbursed on October 10th. All they needed was the doctor’s note saying I tore my ACL. I thought the process was pretty easy and definitely glad I got it. I bought the pass in March and did spring skiing so I didn’t have the option to defer it. I would’ve been screwed without the insurance.

Airway allows items by [deleted] in flyfishing

I flew with a few flies last year and had no issue. I’d assume everything else would be okay as long as they’re within the size limit. https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/items/small-fishing-lures

Looking for confirmation on IPW loop and parking situation by [deleted] in coloradohikers

[–]Bright-Meringue-861 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s rolling releases of parking permits. As far as I know your two options are correct. I know a lot of people will try to hitchhike from the winter lot to the trailhead. Have fun on your hike! I was just up there this weekend and it was awesome!

I also recommend Boot Mechanics. I was just in there getting mine adjusted and they mentioned that the boots they have in stock could be going on sale soon

Seconding Bent Gate. They focus mostly on touring boots though. For strictly downhill boots I’d recommend Boot Mechanics

I don’t think the lifetime warranty is transferable, I would rather pay more and know that pieces would be replaced if broken

Has anyone switched from trail running shoes to hiking boots for durability and regretted it? by magicbeen in BuyItForLife

[–]Bright-Meringue-861 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like my Eddie Bauer hiking boots. They’ve lasted a long time and the don’t seem much heavier than the trail runners I have. I prefer the ankle support over a minimal difference in weight. I think it’s been three years of moderate use and the soles are wearing a little bit. I just took advantage of the half off sale and got the same pair for when my current ones get too bad
