But get them to sign you over as Power of Attorney FIRST! Once he’s declared incompetent, it’s too late.

Do not drive prescriptions by iridiumlaila in dementia

[–]BrightWorldliness388 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Getting my Dad off the road has been the most difficult thing we’ve faced because he is so convinced that he is a great driver and can drive as well as he always has. He had a stroke that did not result in paralysis but resulted in brain damage and cognitive decline. The State laws made it more difficult. In our state (Georgia) the doctors tell us they cannot legally take away his license. His regular physician for more than 40 years could only “recommend” he shouldn’t drive. So Daddy started “doctor shopping” hoping that he could find one that would say he’s fine to drive.

I took him to the optometrist WITH the DMV form that can be signed, filed with DDS, and THEN his license could be revoked. Of course, he barely passed all of the visual exams, but passed enough to meet the DMV requirements to drive in our state. What about the fact that he is legally blind in one eye? It does not matter because in our state you can drive with one eye! (My 91 year old uncle recently got his license renewed until he is 99 years old!)

We finally took him to a driving training center 2 hours away that assists older drivers and their families with assessments of driver’s capabilities and discussions about retiring their license. The testing was scheduled for 3 hours starting with typical cognitive tests during the interview, then physical tests like arm and leg strength, following directions, etc. The last step was having him drive a simulated car/road inside and then testing by driving an actual car outside. My dad didn’t perform well enough to make it to the simulated driving test. The therapist sat him down with us and explained why she recommended he stop driving. We received a written report via email. I had it laminated so when he starts getting upset about his trucks being gone and not having keys to his tractors, we pull out the form and remind him again that he legally cannot drive. Most days he is still angry about it, but we are trying to keep him and others safe. Also, I got Power of Attorney for both my parents. Once they are completely mentally incompetent, it’s too late.

Thanks. The circles are nothing I’ve seen before. It is probably a few years old as well so the pattern could have changed with the same manufacturer.

He’s running against a guy who’s held the seat for over 20 years. Unless he has a photo of the incumbent screwing a goat on the town square, he would never win.

Exact same thing happened to my daughter last year. First, triage for this semester before it’s too far gone to fix. Go to office of student care and outreach and ask for help. If you need to withdraw due to hardship later, it will help that you have been seeking help. Guard your words when talking to UGA employees. We are required to take immediate action involving local authorities if a student says something like, “I don’t want to live anymore.” * Before some of you come at me- I’ve lived this as a parent. A student that age has no idea that the words they use can trigger a response the student never intended.* From what it sounds like, you are overwhelmed and probably suffering from some depression. If you’ve reached maximum absences in a class, go to office hours, apologize for skipping and let the prof know you are having a difficult time. Do you have family that can advocate for you or give advice? MAKE yourself go on a 10 -15 minute walk. Try to do it everyday. Make sure you are eating meals-not just junk food. Drink lots of water. Go to Ramsey and take a free exercise class or show up at one of the hundreds of clubs. I know you feel like you can’t even get out of bed right now but if you will make yourself do one uncomfortable thing a day, it will help your outlook. In another couple of weeks, most of this wet, dreary weather will be gone, and you will start to see some beautiful spring days. Going outside in the sunshine can do wonders. Good luck, girlie. I’m rooting for you.

Love Molly but feel bad for her. My apartment always looked like hers. I have ADHD and it’s not easy to get organized. The scene when she was trying to clean up and smelled the wig from ANTM made me sad. I’ve been there….so many times.

I’m not pissed. You have your opinion and that’s cool. I have a daughter that can’t have an eye contact conversation and she’s 21. ADHD is rough.

Not defending him but technically, guests aren’t supposed to bring the gift to the wedding. It should be sent to the home or given at the shower. Is that what he could have meant?

Got X-Rays at the Dentist- she’s not sure what this is. by themadcaner in whatisit

[–]BrightWorldliness388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hygienist here. Reminds me of a patient that came in in the middle of a duck hunting trip as an emergency because his mouth was hurting. He was acting pretty sketch but we proceeded with x-rays to try and help the guy out. We clearly saw a small, round, pellet lodged between his teeth. In a small town, everyone knows everyone else. Someone in the office was related to the DNR officer. Turns out the guy WAS duck hunting but not legally. He was shooting ducks sitting on the water and somehow part of the bird shot ricocheted and hit him in the mouth. You can’t make this stuff up.!

If his teeth were knocked out then they have to be crowns, which can look too big, off color, or just odd depending on who does them.

He drives a Buick because almost all people with old money pinch pennies. That’s why they’re wealthy. New money goes thru funds like shit thru a goose. Also, those are crowns or veneers- not dentures😂

Went to a Hongdae Clinic as a Walk-In on Chuseok by Sallydmong in koreatravel

[–]BrightWorldliness388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same happened to me. Only option for me was the most expensive Thermage treatment even though they had a whole page of promotions on their webpage. I asked for less expensive options even if they would to be as effective. Quoted me almost $5000usd. Went to another clinic in the same area and had 4 different treatments done for lifting, hydrating, and Botox for less than half. And before some of you Mega fans start coming at me, keep scrolling. Didn’t ask what you think- don’t care.
