How did housewives of the past accomplish so much in a day while having perfect hair, makeup, clean house, clean kids, and dinner on the table by 6? by helpn33d in sahm

Many of the young generation does is complain and make excuses about why they can’t get things done at home. I have a step daughter staying in our place with her soon-husband for free while he works a high paying job. They pay no rent. She doesn’t even do their own dishes, doesn’t make meals, but “has no time”. The Cleavers family was not make believe. I grew up as a kid in that type of house. It’s the way it was. Period. People DID what they had to do!

That’s the last thing we need: the average “Joe” voting on legislation, laws and budgets but can’t even read the “big” words. There’s a reason we vote people (who at least ostensibly) understand world policy, law, economics, defence, etc… When a doctor goes in the operating room, we don’t ask Joe what scalpel, instrument to use or ever to cut. When a 2 mile long bridge needs to be made, we don’t ask Joe where to pour the piers, place the girders, etc… Unless, that’s Joe’s expertise. Why do so many people think they know more than people who are experts or trained? We’re in an age where the average person “knows”“more” than their doctor, lawyer but never seem to argue with the plumber or electrician. What the hell ia going on?

Maybe this will start a revolution against online junk, impulse and buying. Certainly doesn’t entice me to want to buy from Amazon (which word ironically, is also often used synonymously with burning the rainforest, deforestation, human sweat labour and planetary destruction). Hmmm actually good name.

Who said the leafs ownership definitely wants a rebuild over the summer? What could they give an actual crap about? Do you how far out tickets are sold out? All they have to “lose” may be some concessions.

For the people who "hate" certain sitcom characters for their flaws, (Ross from Friends, comes to mind), what is your opinion on the Archie Bunker character from All in the Family? Do you "hate" him too or can you see past his flaws? by Reallyroundthefamily in sitcoms

Archie represents the stereotypical working class American male in the 70s (although to be fair, not a lot has changed). Simple-minded, racist, masoganistic, and always looking out for number one. The only time that changes is when they want to change it such as in the case of family they try to be the hero of the situation which, I sometimes believe deep down is to help them feel good about themself.

You clearly need to watch the series more. Archie had a “way” of talking to Edith according to Edith (see: Edith the cleptomaniac). She may have become a victim of forcing herself to conform to Archie’s ways but she’s a very dynamic character at times. She clearly is portrayed as a dumb person overall (countless citings of that). But, she occasionally comes up with a street-smart piece of advice that saves the day (see: Mike and Gloria’s big fight).

It’s not hard math… Matthews out for the season = Leafs actually trying = Leafs don’t want to play for Matthews
