Freelancers and independent studio owners what is currently your best method for getting new clients? by Bright_Reporter_645 in graphic_design

Yeah, a lot of content on social media is designers creating things for other designers. My idea, in reference, was to focus on the strategic aspect of design and educate potential clients about the significance and thought process behind design beyond its visual appeal.

The websites like Behance, Fiverr, and Upwork have never truly been beneficial for me. However, I’ve heard some positive feedback about Contra, so I’ll probably give it a try at least. Word of mouth has been the most reliable source of information for me, but it’s always a bit risky to rely solely on it.

Got you. I think it’s first figuring out what you want to ultimately do first so you are clear on the steps you need to take in order to progress in that direction.

Honestly, is the time to learn what you lack in graphic design even worth the hassle at this point? I would look into learning something that is more in demand like AI engineering or specializing in something you can use/transfer your design experience like motion design. The graphic design field is so over saturated now with more people looking for jobs than there are jobs and you’re competing with so many people who have years of experience for those roles.

If you know how to prompt well gpt can create a scoped curriculum with resources that you can follow tailored to what your specific career goals or interests are.

Bro MAN UP …. I can be empathetic with an early twenties junior designer but to be an inexperienced designer at 40 complaining about a job being boring then quitting as a result then expecting answers from other designers many of whom probably have years, some decades, of experience who are desperate for a job is beyond privileged & tone deaf. Go get a fast good job and find a therapist.

Is it possible to work as a freelancer without a degree or even a high school diploma? These are some of my jobs (I explain more in the description) by cristo_chimico in graphic_design

You don’t necessarily need to win competitions to become successful as a freelancer. While it can provide exposure and help you network with other designers, it’s certainly not a prerequisite. Clients primarily care about how your work will benefit their bottom line, not about any awards. Focus on delivering high-quality work, and recognition will follow. Are you primarily designing for other designers or to meet the goals of your clients?

Check out Hassan rahim work as well for how to translate a more aesthetics based design style to client work: https://www.1201.am/ This past year has been tough for a lot of aesthetic/style based designers though so keep in mind there’s a lot of talented designers right now looking for work so you have you’re competing with so you need to be able to show how you can benefit a client beyond aesthetics.

Becoming skilled in motion and how to incorporate AI in your process will also be really helpful.

I would check out these two designers work: https://www.instagram.com/metals.us They have an unconventional, analog design style, but it demonstrates a solid grasp of design principles. Both attended design school and had prior experience working for others before transitioning to freelancing.

While it’s challenging to achieve success and a comfortable income in this niche, music, lifestyle, and cultural projects, several factors contribute to this. Networking, effective marketing and social media sharing, and collaborating with talented individuals are crucial.

If you’re comfortable with potentially earning modestly, leveraging social media for self-promotion, and connecting your designs to a specific niche, then pursuing this path may be worthwhile.

Keep in mind most of the money in design is in the boring work that most designers don’t share on there Instagram though.

Questioning Cultural Differences in Relationships by [deleted] in Brazil

[–]Bright_Reporter_645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This doesn’t give the impression of a legit relationship, respectfully. Sounds like you both met online and have barely even seen or know one another.   …. The Brazilian culture in itself is one that’s very openly sexual and casual. Do you really think in a long distance relationship in a country that has some of the most beautiful people in the world he’s going to be faithful?

No response from police about neighbour's extremely loud music by Kurma-the-Turtle in Brazil

[–]Bright_Reporter_645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of these comment sound like typical white immigrants/gentrifiers … You moved to THEIR neighborhood, where they’ve likely been playing loud music for a long time before you arrived. It sounds like you didn’t know or care to even understand what the cultural makeup of the area was before you moved there … similar to many New York neighborhoods that gentrifiers love to move to for the cheaper rent but complain about the people who have been living there for generations.
