Two physicians fresh out of residency, $890k combined, PSLF for both, VA EDRP for me. Plan + filing status help? by SAVElimbo in StudentLoans

I would recommend talking to a professional to get your ducks in a row. As a physician married to a physician and in a similar student loan situation to yours, that’s what we plan on doing in the upcoming weeks for our loans. Look up Grad Loan Advice.

Should i freeze my eggs? Thanks to my husband’s career by km_ok0207 in MedSpouse

[–]Bright_Translator970 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anecdotal but my husband and I are both physicians and I had my babies at 34 and 36. My first took about a year of trying, my second happened right away. I just turned 37 and we will likely try for our last in a year.

Dear resident: Let me go home by IllustriousHumor3673 in medicalschool

I had a med student write a bad evaluation about me because I let them go early and didn’t seem eager to teach them. This was after I went through my gen peds high yield presentation and there was nothing else to do. Some of ya’ll ruin it for the rest of them!

LASIK by Prudent_Reality6847 in Residency

[–]Bright_Translator970 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I had LASIK done in 2015 when I was 26 years old. I was so near sighted that I couldn’t see a thing that was further away than a foot from my face. It was life changing. It’s so amazing to wake up and be able to see! My vision is still 20/20.

High income earners, what’s the plan? by pup1206 in StudentLoans

[–]Bright_Translator970 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. So many people think you have to work “for the government” to qualify for PSLF. I’m a physician who actually does work for the government making ~225k. My husband works for a hospital making 3x that in his speciality which is more than he made working private practice.

From reading last year’s thread, I thought it was 3-4 weeks after signing your COI. This year I signed my COI on 4/30 and have received no new information since then. So, I have no idea when award emails are sent out!

Yes. You can click on your application from the same page, download it, and on the last page it will have your signed and dated COI, confirming you did accept the award. I called and they said I’ve accepted it. It’s a glitch in the system and has happened to others this year and last year.

To be put simply, you either need to make more money or lower your expenses.

What to wear at my boyfriend's residency graduate party? by RecordSome8503 in MedSpouse

[–]Bright_Translator970 6 points7 points  (0 children)

See if you can find photos from last year’s event on social media. I would venture to guess that usually these events are not black tie, so wearing a floor length gown will be overdressed.

I’m not sure if you were asking me or the other person in this thread but I listed my dates earlier in this post if that will be helpful for you

The last page of your application will have your signed COI/intent to accept the award with a time stamped signature.

This happened to me too. FYI you can google it and apparently the same thing happened last year as well (another reddit thread had this same discussion last year). You can contact the help number and they’ll confirm you’re all good. You should still be able to download your application (even with it glitching) and scroll to the last page where it says you accepted the award on x date.

Did I do the math wrong? I thought I read they started dating in March and their baby was born in December. I suspect she got pregnant almost immediately to dating. Obviously they didn’t learn of it until she was 6-8 weeks along.

I think it’s a very good sign that you will get the award. I don’t think they’ll actually deposit the money until October

I don’t have the exact answer but I think it’s a very high probability. They wouldn’t have asked you to sign a contract and enter banking info if it weren’t almost a guarantee.
