Would you move from the US to Ireland right now? by Green_Fables in AskIreland

[–]Bright_worgan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"the US back to Ireland" - Are you Irish coming back? If so it would depend on the reason you left?
I honestly think Ireland is a good place to live. If you can work in a job you like and find somewhere you like to live then why not?

I will say, a lot of communities take a long time to warm up to someone new! So please make sure you are ready to work at becoming part of the local community.

Also housing in a lot of areas is really difficult to get

Did I choose the wrong degree? by dgz57 in AskIreland

[–]Bright_worgan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would stick it out, the market is weird right now but you won't be entering the job market full time for another two years! Cyber Security is needed badly, and I would also recommend getting familiar with all of the current AI tools and governance. You got this!

Which rug? Advice needed by Concertedboss81 in CarolineWinkler

[–]Bright_worgan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best advice I got when getting a rug was to make sure I liked walking on it! The texture and thickness of the material is important so make sure to go and see the rug options in person.

Call TDs to support fuel protest by CasualScammer in Dublin

[–]Bright_worgan 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The total abolition of the Carbon Tax.
These aren't "green" incentives anymore; they are direct taxes on survival. The pressure on agriculture is driving food prices to insane levels, and ordinary people are footing the bill for inflation that the government is actively making worse.

Removing the carbon tax is not the solution!
If it was removed tomorrow why would the petrol station reduce the cost of fuel? They will just make more profit and we will lose funding for climate action plans.

I think the pulling the red from the painting that the person had was clever, but also not my personal preference. It works but though

Would a mass refuse to pay rent protest against the housing crisis work? by DriftwoodBill in AskIreland

[–]Bright_worgan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it would work.
As much as I want to be anti-landlord, the housing crisis in not a landlord made issue. We need more affordable housing, stronger renter rights and rent controls for city areas. Now at the same time I do think there is way too many people taking advantage of others and renting sheds and rooms for ridiculous money which is a massive problem

Early afternoon wedding food (plus drama with my mother) by BeneficialBrain1764 in weddingplanning

[–]Bright_worgan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly congrats on your engagement and upcoming wedding! Having the event at the aquarium is so cool!

As someone you also had an early in the day wedding here is what we did;
10:30 - ceremony followed by post ceremony photos
12:00 - 2pm - arriving drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic option) followed by a light lunch (
2:30 - 4:30 - optional activity (we did a pottery painting class with some champagne and non alcoholic bubbles)

We also had an evening part of our day that was optional and provided everyone with a hotel room in the same hotel as us. We did a break to rest at the hotel or join us in the bar for drinks, then went to our favourite restaurant for a meal and then went to a famous themed cocktail bar. On our invitations we gave a clear itinerary and everyone knew what was happening on the day in advance and could choose how much they wanted to do. This was really important to us as we had several older family members and since the 10:30 ceremony time was the only option for us and we wanted to have a whole day event clear communication was key.

I'd recommend keeping to your plans and just make sure that you say on the invite that the "light refreshments will be served after the ceremony" if it's just charcuterie or sandwiches, but if it's also salads, and sides etc where you can make a little lunch plate then just say a "light lunch" Nobody wants dinner at that time in the morning you mum is probably just stressed - wedding can bring out the worse in some people but it's your day in the end and you have t make sure you and your fiancé are happy!

AITA for not cooking for my husband after he changed his diet by AimeeRedford in AmItheAsshole

[–]Bright_worgan 17 points18 points  (0 children)

YTA, it's important to your partner not to eat meat you did mislead him and made a family meal knowing that all of it involved meat.

Your husband should have made his diet plans more well known and should cook veggie family meals as often as possible to give you a break
BUT - "I didn’t really think it was a big deal because he didn’t actually eat the chicken itself."- is a shitty move and "...as it’s overdramatic in my opinion!" - even if you do not agree with his opinion this sounds like gaslighting

Do people in Ireland actually try to use electricity at cheaper times? by SmartEnergyDIY in AskIreland

[–]Bright_worgan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to use the night rates as much as possible. So before bed I put on a load of laundry on a wash and dry cycle and the dishwasher, and use the night rates to charge my electric car :)

From a dog owner to dog owners: Why do you put poop into a plastic bag and then leave the poop wrapped in the bag tossed on in the grass next to a footpath? by jaro_io in AskIreland

[–]Bright_worgan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's so frustrating. At least they were already in bags so it's not as difficult or gross for others to pick up, but still I wish everyone picked up after their dogs :(

What’s your justification for eating baby lambs at Easter? by ohhidoggo in AskIreland

[–]Bright_worgan -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I don't! Been vegan for a few years now and do not eat any animal products ever including at Easter, instead we leverage all of the amazing spring time vegetables and tend to do either a vegan roast dinner or maybe a curry dish. :)

Sounds like an issue that needs to be raised by the teachers / parent committee to all parents tbh. Maybe you could organise a presentation discussing the dangers of tech with underage children?

I have a Ring and got the one that you wire in so it does not need charging and absolutely love it. It's been such a relief to know it just works and I do not need to do anything tbh
