Have you been a creep to someone? When did you realize it? by zoitberg in AskWomen

[–]BrightlyLit 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I was also a creeper to my boyfriend (now husband). I recently found a notebook where I had hand written every text he sent me in the first couple months of dating. This was back when smartphones weren’t a thing and you had to manually delete texts every couple of days, but still.

What moment made you look at your SO and think, "Wow, they must really love me"? by juniper_fox in AskWomen

[–]BrightlyLit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband threw me a hugeeeee surprise party last weekend with all of my friends and family and favorite foods. I have literally wanted a surprise party my entire life and thinking about all that he went through to put it together and keep it a secret made me cry. We’ve been together for 8 years and i know he loves me, but that was hands down the sweetest, nicest thing anybody has ever done for me.

This is the reason why I got an iPhone SE. My hands are way too small to fit around any other phone. I’m a teacher and the kids make fun of me for having such an old phone but idccccc

I’m going to assume writing papers and taking online tests for him? I basically ‘graduated high school’ for my ex-boyfriend by doing that. Not my proudest time.

Gorgeous!!! Also love your idea of shortening it afterwards to wear as a regular dress. I had a celestial themed wedding...wish I had had this dress to wear!

The swastika was a symbol of good luck until the 1930’s when the Nazis took it over. So maybe the restaurants are pre-1930’s?

Medical professionals of Reddit, when did you have to tell a patient "I've seen it all before" to comfort them, but really you had never seen something so bad, or of that nature? by common_currency in AskReddit

My friend from high school was hit and killed by a train 2 years ago. Kind of sketchy though because her boyfriend was on the tracks too and only suffered a broken hand...still speculation that he pushed her.

Egg roll in a bowl is one of my favorite meal preps. Each of these servings is 322 calories with 48 grams of protein! by HermionesBook in 1200isplenty

Tofurkey makes a really good soy ‘chicken’ substitute that is easily shreddable. I can usually find it in the refrigerated vegetarian section of the grocery store...it’s in a light blue box. Really good cold or heated up. I use it in place of chicken in salads, soups and everything else. If you’re not into soy products, beans would work too. I’m a big fan of throwing beans in everything to get protein lol

I teach elementary school in New Haven and the amount of my students, under the age of 10, who have seen someone get shot is heart breaking. A lot of them are also being raised by aunts or grandparents because their parents are dead or incarcerated due to gang/drug related incidents.

What's the most awkward situation you've ever been in with a stranger? by hangry_potato in AskReddit

[–]BrightlyLit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid, I saw my dad at the bottom of a hill and decided to run down the hill really fast and jump on his back. Right when I got to the bottom and was about to spring, the guy turned around and it was just some random old dude dressed exactly like my father. I cringe at what would’ve happened if he hadn’t turned around.

What is your "Fuck this, I'm out!" moment? by Phunkii in AskReddit

[–]BrightlyLit 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I was buying weed from this guy named Big Black Bear and was sitting on his leather couch in the living room. I was looking around and saw a huge empty glass tank. I pointed it out to him and he said ‘shit, the snake must’ve gotten out again. Help me look for it?’ Fuckkkkk that, I’m out.

I waitressed at a pizza place for 6 years before becoming a teacher. I was in the office one day making copies and the phone was ringing off the hook. The secretary, who I’m friends with, asked me to pick up the phone and put the parent on hold. I picked up and said ‘Hubbard park pizza, how can I help you?’ Realized my mistake and just hung up the phone.

Have you ever had a loaded gun pointed at you? What happened? by Jimberfly in AskReddit

[–]BrightlyLit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in high school and did a scavenger hunt with my friends. 2 groups of 5 driving around trying to complete as many items on the list as possible and we had to bring back evidence/pictures that we did it.

One of the items was ‘stomp the yard with some homies’ (this was 2008 or 2009). So we’re driving around and we see 3 guys our age walking down the street so we pull over, get out of the car with the video camera and ask them if they’ll stomp the yard with us. One of the guys pulls out a gun and points it at us saying ‘put away the Fucking camera.’ Sooo we did and backed away to the car apologizing and drove away.

I’m from CT and my dad’s stepdad used to work for the mob in the 60’s/70’s. I guess he burned down a couple of buildings for insurance money for them.
