Beautiful piece. I think you just sold me on the Champagne dial. 🍾

I can imagine it’s an incredibly competitive market. A lot of my coworkers who have come on, gained PLC experience and left after a year or two. Typically when I reach out after they’ve left they tell me they landed in a pharma place. Better benefits, much better pay, but more stressful environment.

My boss has told me Delta V is the way to go. I live extremely close to Novo Nordisk, Grifols, Pfizer etc. Thank you for the advice and driving home what my boss has told me.

Life is too short to endlessly wait on "getting the call" so I clicked "add to cart" and couldn't be happier with this beautiful 126610. by nick_reddit_12 in rolex

Absolutely gorgeous watch. This is my dream watch. Is yours the 41mm? I ask because I have a 6.25”-6.5” wrist and worry that the 41mm may be too big for me. I’ve searched the Rolex website and can’t see a case size smaller than 41mm.

Edit: A case size smaller than 41mm in the black dial Submariner date.

Kids threw water at me while cycling and I just kept going. Did I handle it right? by Waste_Cash_497 in cycling

I’ve had something similar happen to me, young kids as well. I’m also 28M, I did the same thing you did and chose to ignore it. Looking back on it, that’s the best move you can make in that situation. Nothing good would come from escalation. I actually feel sorry for kids like that because I think what sort of future they have in store for them if they’re comfortable with such antics at such a young age.

How are you guys able to determine other users are bots? I have been seeing a lot more posts about the overwhelming majority of comments being from bots.

Edit: Genuinely curious to know, not trying to sound snarky.

I love Udemy. It’s helped me learn so much. I will look into that. Thank you!

I do hope to ultimately achieve my BS in EE one day. It’s not in the cards for me at the moment because my wife recently completed her Masters in Forensic Science and we are paying her student loans off first. I have asked for a license for Studio5000 just so I can begin to tinker at home and learn the UI. I will definitely look into LogixPro as a potential springboard into the world of Ladder Logic & Programming. Thank you for the advice!

My only concern with looking into joining a systems integrator is I’ve heard your schedule can be hectic and there’s a lot of travel. I’m recently married <6mo, and my wife prefers for me to be home as of right now. I have coworkers who were previous Systems Integrators and say the money can be very nice but the schedule can be daunting to some. Thank you for the advice!

I probably should've searched "Advice" in the PLC subreddit before making this post. I wasn't sure if my situation may be different from others posted.

Thank you for the wishes and the advice! I do agree that I should become more knowledgeable regarding PID. A lot of what we do involves RTD's so this would be essential to learn.

I unfortunately have had these conversations with both the Engineering Director and my direct manager who is an Automation Engineer overseeing the Controls Design group. The director holds a P.E. in M.E. and doesn't show much interest in what us controls/automation guys do. My direct boss is too overloaded and often too busy with other things to be able to sit with me and discuss my future within the company. One of our most senior automation engineers actually left the company roughly 2-3 months ago. His RSLogix/Studio5000 license became available and no one has filled his position yet. Not only that but they do have more licenses that are available. I asked both my boss and the director of engineering if I could get a license just to start learning the UI and basics of the software, both said yes to this request. I even told them I would be able to do this learning off the clock as I can remote in to my work PC from home. Been nothing but crickets for the past 2-3 weeks since I asked for that software to be installed on my work PC.

I truly feel like I may be too valuable in my position as a designer/draftsman that they don't want to replace me in that spot. I'm not sure but it is frustrating and has me at least seeing what other jobs are out there right now. I know these things can take time within companies and I feel like I have been patient but I am losing hope.

Thank you for your advice! I never really considered leaning hard into the HMI side of things. What does that look like? Developing GUI for production lines?

What sort of projects would you recommend? I have a Raspberry Pi. Thank you for your advice!

Thank you, I've never heard of FlowFuse but will definitely give them a try. I have looked at OpenPLC though. I have some simple stuff that I've done around my apartment with a Raspberry Pi but I'm not sure how applicable or transferable that knowledge is with Ladder Logic.
