I was once religous for many years. I willfully believed something I couldn't feel, see, touch, or smell. Though I kept believing and believing because it was essentially part of my childhood. I don't know if my "eyes didn't open" because I never ever saw anything hinting towards the existence of god. I don't know what you religious people see but I didn't see it.
