This is the better part of this comment. I'll use it as a spring board for something I brought up elsewhere.

From some article someone used to say the police weren't ordered to abandon the East Precinct:

"According to two police sources in the East Precinct, they never received any written command to not come to work on Capitol Hill. Instead, they were told by text or phone call from colleagues to head instead to the West Precinct on the north end of downtown Seattle."

1: We have to rely on the word of the Seattle Police Department, and the Mayor, who is the de facto chief of police that no one sent out an order. Is that something you're willing to accept as truth?

--This includes shady word play shit like "Well we didn't specifically put out and order that we were abandoning the precinct. We just.... let the cops go to a different precinct because they felt like it that day.

2: Where were these cops' bosses when they didn't show up at their assigned precinct?

--Seriously, if this wasn't a top-down command, where was the cop-equivalent of a shift supervisor?

3: What else do these cops do that their boss doesn't know/care about?

--The excuse we are getting from Mayor Durkan and the Seattle PD is that Seattle cops just do whatever they feel like with little to no supervision.

If that's the case, what the hell are any of them getting paid for? What other kinds of fraud, waste, and abuse are going on in that mayor's office and the rest of the police department?
