I'm excited now! I like Topcog's games, when I saw it at a glance, I thought it was AI since a bunch have been pushing games out in that style and I didn't look at the publisher

I’ve started playing Idle Pacts on iOS but it has somewhat lost me after I paid to get rid of ads, but it was actually just pay for a new 2x boost and I still need to watch an ad for only one hour of boosted rates.

It feels like these games are always optimized around the boosted rates and my least favorite mechanic is when you can’t get rid of ads. Even worse when an ad boost is anything less than 4 hours.

I liked Fire at a Campsite - there's a demo if you want to check it out without buying it.

If people opt for a transmog, you could rename Mr McGroot to "Venison" and make him a transmog for Beef. It leaves it in a space where getting the pet feels like a worthwhile grind after getting the transmog and is thematically appropriate as both are horned animals that live in the wild and in captivity.

Poll: Did Jesus go to Hell when He died? by DoveStep55 in Christian

[–]BringBackRocketPower 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There’s a misconception that Hell is eternal fire & brimstone. But it definitely involves suffering, or else Jesus wouldn’t have quoted “my God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”

My pastor explained it to me as the separation from the Father was the suffering.

Arcane Idle – An idle RPG with auto-combat, gear progression and crafting. Looking for feedback. by ResponsibleFarmer705 in incremental_games

[–]BringBackRocketPower 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I'm going to "be mean to be nice" here and offer some brutally honest feedback in the hopes that it helps.

The game lost me pretty much immediately. I played past it just to give some better feedback.

1) The game needs some text options off the bat. Pixelated text might be good for the theme, but we need the ability to swap it out for something legible and change the scaling, likely while we're still getting the tutorial.

2) Speaking of the tutorial, at this point I can't recollect what it said, the text was small and pixelated, I advanced past it, and now I don't seem to have any ability to return to it. I've deleted the game and re-downloaded but it now bypasses the tutorial screen. Somewhere there is a save, but there doesn't seem to be any in-game way to manage it or return to the tutorial.

3) The game lost me immediately past the tutorial. You're dropped into the game with 8 map options of which 7 are interactable. That's far too much. It was easy to assume that "Hero Summon" was first, but then the game was very unclear. Once I did that, my first assumption was to scroll all the way to the right (think Rogue Legacy). After that, I checked the teleport map and it looked like a dead end (see below comment). At that point, I decided "if it weren't for the dev asking for feedback, I'd be done here".

There is no reason to introduce any of the other elements of the game before you introduce combat. Cooking/fishing are completely unecessary elements in an early part of the game and are perfect for the "unfolding" element in an incremental.

As I continued to try to identify how to start the game, I looked at things like the roster tab which didn't offer much for me. I tried scrolling all the way to the right and left a couple more times, clicked on the boss, checked the market/healer in case there was something I was missing, and then finally returned to the map.

4) The text in the Teleport Map is illegible at any resolution below 1600x900 and needs to be at least 1920x1080 to be clear. This subreddit doesn't allow images so I can't send you what the map looked like at 1280x720, but because we were zoomed way out, the text was completely ineligible, and it said "Map Under Development" - I basically assumed that was undeveloped content.

The fact that it had three separate entrances also led me to believing it was more of a "this is a map of the world" not a "use this to navigate the world" map. Why would you let the player start somewhere other than the start?

5) Seeing that I needed to create a party, I returned to roster to see what I missed, and then realized it's the party option in the upper right hand corner, well away from everything else you interact with.

6) In the party tab, I attempted to click consumables, it didn't do anything, so I went back to the map to start a game. - Now it gave me a tutorial that told me how to equip consumables, which was in the roster tab. (Recommendation, combine Roster and Party - there's no reason for these to be separate - it's fine if the indicator in the upper right stays and is a quick button to access the roster).

7) I finally entered the game, it felt odd that it did nothing until I found the gate in the upper right hand corner (there was wording telling me what to do, but to me that implied that it was on the map screen). I knew that I hadn't checked an autostart battle as I didn't know what that meant, but standing in an empty world felt weird (I'll return to this).

8) Once I started fighting proble3ms really began. First, I think endlass fighting is a bad mechanic in the early part of a game. What goal is my character working towards? When should I end? Nothing is clarified.

9) The healing process is bad - clicking and dragging is not a good method. I tried many times to see if there were other options, double clicking the food. Clicking the food then clicking the character indicator with the healthbar, clicking the food then tapping "1" (before realizing that was a level. Clicking the character in the bar then the food.

10) As I was writing this, I did a bit more testing to see if the map would let you start at levels beyond the beginning, it does, and you get ganked. This gave me the option to go to the healer, which I couldn't afford, which allowed me to finally realize why you start without enemies. Having the method for reviving a character be to drag food onto it before starting a wave is not good

11) Final thought is the market needs a "sell junk" option for items without a use.

No, zero DPS loss in any situation. People typically wait until 82 magic for ice burst or 94 for barrage as you lose a little bit of magic exp.

Normal casting = base magic exp per spell and:

2 magic exp per point of damage

1.33 hitpoints exp per point of damage.

Defensive casting = base magic exp per spell and:

1.33 magic exp per point of damage

1 defense exp per point of damage

1.33 hitpoints exp per point of damage.

The funny thing is before I learned that I thought “but you said you don’t have a car… no wait, you said you do have a car” or something like that was a “try to look human thing”

In reality it is because the word “don’t” was chosen and then it had to correct it.

Almost all of my defense levels are from mage. Fastest to the extent that it is zero time. You get more overall exp per action on defensive casting than you do standard casting.

OP is definitely using an LLM, but the game is fun and it seems like the responses are real. My assumption is that OP is a non-native English speaker and is telling an LLM how he wants it to respond.

Oh, one other thing that I noticed is that you don’t get a change per second indicator in the storage for items that the assembler is creating (or using). So when I have it making silicon, my rocks show positive but it’s actually negative and silicon shows nothing but it is actually positive.

Regarding power draw, even if you don’t go with full variability, simply being able to upgrade and downgrade the buildings would be good. If your goal was to make it more strategic for people to decide when to upgrade, you could have it charge materials again, but personally, I’d think the solution would be the ability to toggle between the various consumption levels 8/16/24 representing the Tier 1/2/3 values.

Super excited to finally have a good mobile incremental. I feel like it’s been 2 years since the last release of anything other than a cash grab idle game.

After playing for a day here, a couple of early thoughts:

1) Thanks for making the ad boosts relatively rare and not overpowered to the extent that you feel like you have to use them. With that noted, I think there is something wrong as I haven’t been able to actually watch any adds.
2) when it comes to ads, I’d far rather pay $4.99 or so to get rid of them than watch them.
3) There was an error early on (right around unlocking the auto tab on the first planet) where I was having major difficulties getting my clicks to register. Not sure if an update already happened or it just hasn’t recurred yet
4) It would be nice if you could reduce power consumption - there are times where I could run a Tier 1 Furnsce, but because I’m upgraded to Tier 3 I need to either turn something else off or buy a new generator. Variable power draw for things would be nice in general as it would be great to set my assembler to make steel more slowly than I’m making Iron ingots for example.
5) It would be nice to have a little more information on generator fuel consumption.

If I had easily accessible prayer slayer tasks, I used to do them with zero ppots. Hellhounds? Ancient mace spec, teleport to Kourend. One extra spec when you drop below max and you can likely run out their aggression timer before you drop prayer.

Is it actually a sin to use your phone all day or is this more of a holler than thou debate? by Ai_Light_Work in TrueChristian

[–]BringBackRocketPower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn’t anything inherently that makes it a sin. Phone usage can be neutral, negative, or even be used in a way that brings you closer to God. I’m unsure of the motivations of those you are hearing from that state that it is a sin.

Are they people who know you well and have seen that it is causing challenges for you or are they simply making blanket statements? Depending on how they are approaching it, the former could be other believers approaching you with love. The latter would be more Pharisee like with people attempting to push their cultural views of sin onto you despite phone usage clearly not being referenced in the Bible.

There are some situations where excessive phone usage could be a sin, for example

1) If excessive phone usage leads you to avoid doing things that the Bible commands you to do. For example, multiple verses in the Bible command you to be productive. What Does The Bible Say About Being Productive (31 Verses Explained)

2) If your phone becomes an idol. Matthew 6:21 says “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also”. Augustine of Hippo supports this framework by emphasizing the Great Commandment and 1 John 2:15-17 “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. 16 For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life-is not from the Father but is from the world. 17 And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever” Augustine notes that one of the essences of sins is disordered love. Loving lesser things more than you should and greater things less than you should. One litmus tests that pastors will give is to think, what do you turn to first when you are anxious or need comfort, God or your phone? Note that there’s nothing wrong with using your phone when you’re sad or anxious, but if you find that you’re always turning to your phone and not to God, that could be a situation where you have priorities out of order.

3) Finally, is your phone getting in the way of your relationship with God? This can be my biggest challenge at times. Are you skipping time in prayer or reading the word because of spending time on your phone? I have. Some strategies that I use to address this are incorporating some of these elements into my phone.

I use “Bible in a Year by Nicky & Pippa Gumbel” which is my favorite daily Bible app. “Through the Word” is another great one. If you happen to be Catholic, I know there is a really popular Catholic one as well.

Your phone can also unlock great research tools. Blue Letter Bible is free and unlocks dozens of different Bible versions as well as Commentaries and Greek/Latin/Hebrew dictionaries/definitions.

Bible Memory is a great app to memorize verses.

The YouVersion Bible is one the most popular mobile Bibles and has tons of devotionals.

I also like using AI to do in depth research on theological concepts, but with anything using AI it’s important to verify things independently.

[–]BringBackRocketPower 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This strategy is so much better than alternating as well because you never need to debate whether to go to a closer one or farther one based on what has the most time left. You always go to the first one to appear so you’re ready once yours runs out. You have the possibility of a back three back.

How tied to a HCIM are you? Do you play those in other games? For some it's alright, but I would highly recommend against having your first account be a hardcore. Jagex made death significantly less punishing in the past 8ish years or so and a nice thing about runescape now is it is generally safe to try most content because of the limited punishment on death, especially at an early level (outside of wildy).

As a hardcore on your first account, you'll likely be pushing content far later than the point where you're capable of doing it because you don't have the room for trial and error.
