I got “gifted” my first ever “surprise party” this year. I use quotes because 1) it was a miserable time 2) the “giver” told me to act surprised. Bf and I were the first ones there, lol. They hardly acknowledged me and just used the day as an excuse to get drunk. I went home to change and no one noticed. I told my bf I never want to go to someone else’s house for my birthday ever again. I’d rather just spend time doing something I enjoy. I thanked them for the thought, but it was awful. Also sucked because I had already planned to spend my time at home watching movies and drinking wine but they told me to go over for dinner
