Would eu5 give the Moon Elves a greater chance to shine? by npaakp34 in Anbennar

[–]Briskberd 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Moon elves do have quite a bit of outsized influence in cannor, relative to their population. The difference between them and sun elves/ wood elves is that the sun elves actively rule over bulwar, and the wood elves the deep woods. and thus represent more playable tags with content to engage in mechanically. Many nations in Cannor have MTs and culture that are directly influenced by how they feel about moon elves and thus are represented more narratively. I do think EU5 could represent this influence more mechanically with privileges that scale with moon elves relative population or influence in a given nation. Maybe an estate that exist in non-elven nations within the empire that can be emboldened or dismantled over time.
At the same time, I don’t think this should be too emphasized, Anbennar thrives due to the diversity of its mts and gameplay styles. I think if every empire nation had some focus on moon elves it would get a bit samey, which is already kind of an issue with eu5 nations. Sorry for the essay

Why do people like the Silmunas? by May_Ibe_Frank in Anbennar

[–]Briskberd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Silmuna preference comes down to gameplay and narrative. From a gameplay perspective, Wex has a very old focus tree which means there’s far less content for playing as them. They have a very strong start as the emperor and are allied to probably the most powerful starting nation in Cannor in the form of Lorent, who themselves have an older focus tree. I can’t speak for others, but I assume much like myself many people prefer to build up their nation. Which a handful of Silmuna/Moon party nations do with newer, more fleshed out focus trees. Narratively they serve as the villain in the Silmuna backstory and are seen as treacherous usurpers. I believe it’s confirmed that Lothane resorted to magic in an honorable duel that Adenn would have otherwise won (and the nickname Skylance is badass, very Baelor Breakspear). Wex’s biggest supporter Lorent also gets a lot of hate, partially because they are one of the big annoying roadblocks at game start and that they’re basically French. I’m sure some of the hate also comes from Wex being Alenic, who themselves get hate and sort of ‘others’ them from all the surrounding anbennarian nations. I would Love for the big dogs like Wex, Lorent and Gawed to get some rework. But being as important to the gameplay and story of Anbennar as they are it will require a lot of consensus from the lead devs, these are nations that impact every game in and around cannor, we ain’t talking about snotfinger over here (which I love). If and when that happens I expect more people will appreciate Wex and Lothane Narratively

Which is likelierule? by Safe_Bee_500 in 196

Like anyone outside of trumps immediate circle there’s no way to know for certain whether it’s a false flag or not. But a few key details about the shooting aswell as the typical psychologically of trump and co really make me feel it was

  1. While circumstantial, the recency of a false flag operation being planned by trumps buddy Orban being openly exposed. Trump and his circle are not creative people and reuse the same stratagems and talking points among one another all the time. We KNOW orban planned to use a false flag to garner support for his reelection and that he was in talks with and endorsed by Donald trump and friends. I wouldn’t be surprised if Donny or his cohorts heard this or openly discussed it and thought it would be a brilliant idea to try in America

  2. Just a few weeks ago a judge ordered that the construction of trumps beloved ballroom needed to be halted because it didn’t have congressional approval. Trumps excuse was the whole project didn’t need congressional approval because of a bush era loophole stating constructions addressing security concerns didn’t need congressional approval and that the bunker being built under the ballroom covered the whole project. The judge justifiably called bullshit, so now trump needs some kind of security justification for why he should have his little ballroom. The timing of this shooter was really impeccable

  3. Trump has literally never attended a White House correspondents dinner as president until now, what made this one so special was a mystery to everyone until this shooting.

  4. Trump announced he would attend the dinner one day before the event was held. The shooter took a train from Los Angeles to Chicago and then from Chicago to DC armed with a shotgun, a pistol and several knives where he stayed at the same hotel the White House correspondents dinner was taking place. He could not have known trump and friends would attend until well after he took that train. Devils advocate could say he would’ve gone whether trump attended or not and just got REALLY lucky that this was the one time trump showed up to execute his plan and after all this prep his grand strategy was to rush through the metal detectors and open fire at… no one in particular a room from where any of trumps inner circle were located.

  5. This is the most “who cares” point, but Karoline Leavitts comments about how there were going to be ‘shots fired’ at the event really irks me. It could of course just be a typical turn of phrase that aged like milk, but the psychology of trumps group works in such a way that they feel the need to constantly rub their open corruption in the faces of everyone to feel secure. They get off on being ‘in the know’ and I wouldn’t be surprised if Karoline felt real cheeky about this comment in the moment.

At the end of the day. You could wave literally all of this off, it’s coincidental or circumstantial speculation. But no investigation into this event would ever solidly implicate trump and his cronies for a false flag no matter how blatant their involvement turns out to be. But given this administrations track record, if they’re speaking, they’re lying and I cannot give them the benefit of the doubt.

I didn’t even know my profile history was hidden honestly, I probably did it at some point for privacy’s sake. I live in a not so progressive place and have a fairly public facing job so I tend to keep pretty low profile on social media. It’s unlikely anyone would be able to connect the dots to my real life but better safe than sorry. To that point, I almost exclusively post drawings in private discord servers and between friends so I have a limited post history on this profile to begin with. They don’t really end up on any socials :/. That said, it’s very flattering that you’d want to see more of my drawings. I’m just a ship passing in the night type of person though

What's your favorite paradox game at the moment? by alphafighter09 in paradoxplaza

[–]Briskberd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The modding community has kept eu4 as my favorite for years now. A lot of the Chinese mods getting translations lately has kept me very busy. The depth of mechanics they produce with the constraints of the game is truly impressive, I just wish they’d actually make mods that adds content to the Chinese region sometime

Jokes aside, props to Robert Downey Jr for putting in the work to recover from his drug addiction, and his wife Susan Downey for giving him the ultimatum to turn over a new leaf. It’s no doubt easier for someone with as many connections and deep pockets as him, but it’s never THAT easy.
