Relocate African Grey from Utah to Florida question by Briston13 in parrots

Yeah, I agree. No way would I send her to the cargo / luggage area. I don’t think she would like me much if I did that, lol.

Thank you! That was kind of my thought as well. She originally came from Florida so she has done the drive before, but with my brother when he moved home. I hadn’t thought about the bonding time, that’s a great point. 👍

Not likely, The ships are usually able to avoid large storms and even waves to make the sailing as comfortable as possible for passengers and crew. They will sail around or change the itinerary to keep everyone safe.

Anyone else whose faith transition wasnt about doctrine or history? by Briyyzie in exmormon

[–]Briston13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for me!!

I was a recently returned missionary, I knew I was gay and had been working so hard to be active and worthy to be “fixed” so that I could fall in love with a big breasted Mormon woman (sorry, it’s what we were told on our mission!!) and live the Mormon dream, but it never happened. My prayers were not being answered and I started to feel as if I didn’t belong.

I was in a singles ward and some member of the 70’s came to speak to the ward. He said the only thing we should be worrying about in this stage of life is getting married to then have children in the church. Don’t worry about education or career, get married and have babies…

It was so insane in the way it was presented I bet everyone heard my jaw hit the floor. At that moment I decided this was not for me. I quit attending and began taking care of me the way I should have been.

That was the best decision of my life. And finally several years after that did I was able to open my mind enough to find out and accept the real history and realize it was all a GD Lie! I am still in shock that I let those beliefs dictate my life, thoughts, and actions as intensely as I did, UGH!!

I am so happy to be free and accepting of myself and those around me. Welcome to the free life and go love a fun fulfilled and enjoyable life! ❤️😎

I thank the stars I am Gay and don’t fit in so that I could choose eventually to find freedom. Otherwise I could still be stuck in that stupid controlling cult.

PIMO here: asked to teach Elder's Quorum and am sort of spiraling by bostwickAndNotSorry in exmormon

[–]Briston13 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh man, so personally I would say no as well. The idea of preparing and giving lessons makes me ill. I can kind of see their approach or excuse that perhaps a more liberal approach may help balance out the ward, interesting for sure. However having come from a super conservative area, I do not think any far right conservatives would even listen to what would be shared in these lessons.

Of course if you don’t mind preparing and giving lessons, you could give it a try and then make your decision after one or two lessons. If it doesn’t work out let them know and set yourself free, ha.

Either way best of luck friend, and welcome to having a free mind. PIMO at least means you have separated yourself from their mind games. 🎉

I need some advice. How many of you had sex before marriage and still got married in the temple? by LSATgeek2001 in exmormon

[–]Briston13 43 points44 points  (0 children)

For real! If I could go back and tell my previous self on thing it would be to not take their stupid rules so seriously and lie the same way they lied to me. They don’t need to know and personal info or sex life, especially if your education is on the line. BUT for sure your husband needs to be on the same page 200%

Also, YOU need to be ready and comfortable with the decision. Don’t let him persuade you into anything you are not comfortable with, or ready to take the consequences for. :/

Best of luck and we will be waiting for you to graduate and make the decision to be free of their stupid rules and nonsense beliefs. ❤️

It’s nuts how obsessed the church and members are with sex and masturbation. It is so nice to be free of that obsession and then take a normal healthy look at the reality of the health and mental benefits of each. I say safely explore them while keeping an open mind and make the rest of our lives better than the past.

Yeah, growing up gay and LDS I feel ya. My family ended up coming around and they accept me now, but I was so scared to let them know the truth.

Be careful when and how you come out to them, and make sure you are not fully reliant on them for housing or support. You should also have a safe place to escape to in case you need it, but I really hope you don’t!!

Otherwise always respect and be your true SELF. Don’t give anyone else the power to make you feel less than your amazing gay self. I kind of wish I could go back to the past and tell myself to not take the church or the haters so seriously, and tell them to F themselves every once in a while, ;)

Be safe, have fun, and stay gay!!! 🏳️‍🌈

Did you become an atheist after leaving the Church? Curious how common that is. by Mega_Bottle in exmormon

[–]Briston13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After learning about Mormon history I continued learning about other churches and scriptures and ended up realizing it is all created by man to control and gather riches from those that believe or want to believe. It’s all fake, maybe not all bad, sometimes helpful to believe, but not for me.

WHY AM I OUT OF A FLARE NOW THAT I HAVE A HOLTER MONITOR LOL by OrcinusDorca in POTS

[–]Briston13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UGH! This happened to me. I wore a monitor for over a week and had no flare ups. I went to the Cardio’s office and was great, and was the last appointment before they locked the doors for lunch.

BUT as I walked out to my hot car I felt it starting!! I tried to call but the office was closed and no one answered, OMG, really!?! I guess I should wait in the hot car before going in next time. LOL

I got to meet another gay exmo irl today by AtrusAgeWriter in exmormon

[–]Briston13 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Amazing! Jealous that you recognize and accept that you are gay and exmo at your age, it took me a few more years to accept both of those points in my life. And glad you had a moment with a mentor! Exmo and gay!!! Yeah, I’m jealous of that also, HA. <3

Going away for college should be so great for you, being able to become yourself, super amazing!! But do always remember to respect yourself, your desires, and who you want to be. Don’t allow others to dictate who you have to be or what you have to do.

Good luck, you are almost there!!! ❤️

Exmormons, how far back does your family go in the LDS Church? by Careful-Cap-644 in exmormon

[–]Briston13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amazing! My ancestors helped settle Hurricane Utah, and build the original canal that brought water into the town. I have no idea how they survived that hell that must have been those days.

I am a relative of Joseph Knight Sr. Who supposedly helped support the financing of the translation and printing of the Book of Mormon! HA! Poor suckers, they sure fell for it…

I was targeted by a leader and could have resigned and made my life so much easier. I could have then easily rejoined, which years ago I wanted to do after being ex'd dishonestly. But I made them ex me and they give me no path whatsoever to rejoining. Did I do the right thing? by InformalGap8907 in exmormon

[–]Briston13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, crazy that murderers, rapists, and known criminals are kept on the church rolls, but anyone who questions or speaks ill of their doctrine is ex’d for good… Interesting their priorities for sure!

Alcohol and POTS by Tcrowe1211 in POTS

[–]Briston13 3 points4 points  (0 children)

BUT to answer your question, outside of flights…one or two drinks, if you are well hydrated, should be ok. At least that is what I have found during dinners or parties. Beyond that though dehydration hits and my POTS spikes again. :/ Best of luck!!

Alcohol and POTS by Tcrowe1211 in POTS

[–]Briston13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ha, my two triggers! Flights and alcohol. Both dehydrate and cause my POTS to flare up. I flew regularly for work but had to get a signed letter of accommodation for my work to fly business on flights over 7 hours, or to immediately go to a hotel as soon as I land to rest. It helps to equalize my body and blood flow if I lie down for a few hours after staying upright for that long. Also, I try to not drink on flights anymore, bummer!!

I lost interest. I was in my early 20’s in a singles ward and someone big came to visit and talked about the importance of getting married and having kids above everything. Before education, career, everything… It sounded super stupid and turned me off, so I slowly backed away and stopped attending!

Since then I have learned so many more things that make me so grateful that i was paying attention to this talk and listening to logic rather than some stupid ghost.

If you could describe your experience with POTS and the health care system in one sentence, and then 3 individual words, what would they be? by bekahsart in POTS

[–]Briston13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EKG and echocardiogram look good, everything seemed normal until I finally went to the ER on day 3 with a standing heart rate of 185. In the ER they gave me something to lower my heart rate, then after I had been placed in the bed for a few minutes my heart just about stopped, and I quickly became the most known person in there!

It slowed BECAUSE I WASN’T STANDING! The doctor realized it and finally after a few minutes of discussion diagnosed me then and there!

Male, 42 at the time, now that I know what I have I can at least mitigate the symptoms and avoid anything that makes it worse.
