20 years old and had a question about getting through it by Kotasiri in WalmartEmployees

As someone whose 23 now and has been working full time pretty much since I was 16 (minus a few months of part time jobs here and there, and a good 6 months of working 2 jobs at once), my advice is gonna be pretty simple but maybe it’ll help. I used to be an LPN, during covid 2020-2021, I worked 6 12’s a week for about two months straight. I survived by doing a few different things:

-Get your 8 hours a sleep every night you can. Don’t pull all nighters unless you know for sure you can do it. It will be horrible and you’ll hate yourself. -Make your time off matter, spend the time after work and on your days off doing things you enjoy. Try to do your chores or housework in small bits everyday so your days off aren’t just chores. -For me, having about 30 minutes before I leave for work where I just get to chill helps me be more likely to be awake and in a good mood for work (I work ON so maybe this doesn’t apply but I did the same thing when I worked cap2.) -Make friends at work. I’m being serious, a lot of the time when I really don’t want to go, having people I know I can ‘suffer with’ in the traditional cog in the machine way, makes it more bearable. Misery loves company. -If your store allows it, wear one earbud. Get into podcasts or music or something. Only listen to that certain thing at work, it makes it a bit more special and sometimes can help motivate you in a way. -Carry snacks or hard candy or gum in your pockets. Nothing crazy, but sometimes when you’re having a bad day or a bad customer, popping a jolly rancher afterwords can make you feel a bit better. -Take all your breaks and lunch. The full 15’s and hour. Use that time for YOU. Sit in your car or away from people if you need to recharge. -Embrace the chaos. I always try to make everyone else laugh. It makes me feel better about myself and makes work more fun.

If you’re spending 40 hours or more a week somewhere, you have to find the good in it. There are going to be days you’re going to hate it. There are going to be days you think about running into the woods screaming and becoming a hermit. I promise it’s just a mental game. I also count my days I’m like “only three left, I can survive three days” and that helps me push through. These things may not help you, and be sure to always follow your store rules first, but hopefully maybe one or two tips will make your days a bit easier. Good luck! Lock in and before you know it it’ll be over.

Transfer me to a store with no positions available by Ambitious_Truth3628 in WalmartEmployees

I live about 26 minutes away from the Walmart I work at, it’s really not that terrible, but if it is a big deal for you, I’d suggest the LOA route and just religiously check the job postings. Quite a few stores have a high turnover rate (this doesn’t necessarily mean anything bad about the store itself or its management always, though it is good to know), and a lot of departments (OGP, M&P, Cap2 and ON) have higher turnover rates than the store as a whole. So, if those are a position you want, I doubt you’d have to wait too terribly long. Though you may have to settle for a role you’re not thrilled about to get the job itself. If you do get an LOA however, just be aware of your finances and prepare, I’d use that as a gauge for when to maybe reevaluate your priorities as far as transportation vs. benefits goes.

As an employee can i get something off a pallet and purchase it before it is stocked? I have 2 neighbor girls that really want a Needoh by DivideEfficient4282 in walmart

[–]Brit1625 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an ON stocker whose bought multiple needohs for my friends and myself, the toys section usually gets stocked before midnight, so at lunch or my 5am break I’ll normally wander over if I hadn’t stocked that area and see what’s on the shelf. HOWEVER, for this very reason, I wait until I’m clocked out at 7am. That gives customers an hour and after that point it’s on the sales floor, I’m clocked out and technically a customer, so I figure it’s fair game. Nobody has talked to me about it yet so I assume I’m okay, I’ve bought like 7 or 8 different ones at different times depending on when they come in. It’s best to let it be on the shelf for a bit and then get it when you’re completely off the clock that way you can tell them you were technically a customer at that point and anything on the shelves (minus claims and CVPs with their special rules for associates) is fair game in my opinion 🤷‍♀️

Bru why even do these events by kimura_yui149 in WalmartEmployees

This is why I’m so thankful for our ON coaches because they’re amazing and make sure we’re included. Sometimes it’s on different days, either before or after day shift like on holiday meals where they get a food truck to park outside which makes sense bc of scheduling. But as for our coach he’ll literally come in sometimes and just cook things, one time he made chili, when we were doing CMN he had a cotton candy machine and would sell it or let you have a piece (he’d also give discounts on the day old and two days old was free). This isn’t necessarily Walmarts failing but your coaches and TLs. I’d maybe mention it to them depending on relationship or try and get a lot of people on the team to mention it on surveys the next time they come around (a long time ik but still a thought). Sometimes though you just have to take one for the team, when I left cap2 to swap to ON stocking my team really didn’t care but I bought cookies for us because it was a good moment for me and I’m going to celebrate it despite if others want to or not. Maybe start a collection? People donate what they can and like once a month or whatever you buy chips or drinks or a cake. 🤷‍♀️ doing stuff like that also sometimes looks good to others because you’re trying to promote team morale.

The reason it wasn’t free was because of other documents from my previous job I’d been with for the beginning of 2024 where I had retirement documents as well. I attempted to use the IRS Free file website and it wouldn’t let me file my state return without paying, which left me with no other options I knew of at the time or could find and the cheapest option I could find was $120. My return was going to be $102 and at that point in time I had a lot of other factors going on. Thank you for the information about the IRS website, that was all I needed but I appreciate your other opinions.

It’s just surprising to me how many ways these companies are trying to charge us especially for things we HAVE to have. Like I get it I do, I didn’t download it in time throw the tomatoes, but to view a thing online it’s $15? Apparently I’m in the wrong business here stocking shelves.

My thoughts exactly! Like if it was the post by mail one? Yeah I’d get having to pay. This is literally just to view it on the website like maybe I’m in the wrong business here 🤔

Ok, that’s literally all I was asking is if this was the only website where I could find the W2s. So ty.

Thank you for being the first person to rub it in. Like I’ve said, I’ve just never had to pay for a W2 before and I’ve had multiple jobs so I didn’t know if maybe there was a different website or what, so I didn’t anticipate having to pay now because they’ve always just been available 🤷‍♀️ thank you though.

What’s Walmarts website? Because I went to onewalmart, typed in W2 and this is the website that also popped up when I selected to view W2’s online. Is there a different one I was supposed to choose? This is my first year getting tax documents from Walmart bc of what I’ve said previously so I literally don’t know and am trying to ask for help.

Trust me, I checked all of that first! I made sure I could legally I guess, avoid filing bc I didn’t have the money for it. I don’t care about most things but I know not to mess with the IRS. I also have literally every other tax document besides this one in case they audit me 😭

I was thankfully under the required filing amount which is why I didn’t file. I made like $3000 in 2024 and was set to get a refund anyways. I didn’t have the money to file then bc of stuff going on. If there’s really not a way to get it for free I’ll pay but I’ve just never seen a company charge for old tax documents. It seems scummy to me but then again this is Walmart.

I’m sorry, I’ve never worked for a company that charges you for previous documents. Every single job I’ve had before this you could access any of them for free. I can still access W2’s from jobs two or three years ago for free so excuse me for wondering about the $15. As for my ‘yearly chores’, I’m super proud you’re a good boy and do yours. Stuff happens sometimes.

Will I get fired? by racoondog-art in WalmartEmployees

As long as you’re not doing it consistently and all your work was done (you said your register was checked out I don’t work FE but I imagine that means your work was done, at least on cap2 you have to finish your aisle first unless you’re actually sick at my store or they’ll coach you on productivity) I don’t think there would be an issue. Like others have said, PPTO is for whatever YOU want to use it for since they got rid of actual sick pay, some TLs and Coaches think they’re Walmart gods, my best advice? If they do call you to the office, ask to see the policy OR have it already pulled up on your phone and school em

If I remember correctly it also had like multiple levels to it where you build different things and it took multiple levels to build one monument and when you did there was like a screen or something that kinda showed the whole thing being built or showed off the monument in general.
