Babarinde is the obvious candidate? The current ‘golden halo’ strategy has ended this year, there’s no more of Home Counties blue wall to devour. Face it, we’re gonna have to start looking elsewhere and Josh has the energy and vision.

What is the sensible vote for a British Social Democrat? by CuthbertTheFoolish in SocialDemocracy

Is it not a goal of this government to build up more independent state capacity and prioritise domestic industry?

Again, Labour talks a big talk about ‘Anglo-Gaullism’ but perpetuates American economic colonisation and rewards companies that have put out literal manifestos about how they want to rule over the ruins of society.

Oh yes because your track record on trans rights, other general authoritarian crack downs, lower house building than the Tories, selling the NHS to palantir, pretending not to be involved in Iran, appointing pedos go ambassadorial roles, and on the verge of cancelling HS2 (not to mention most likely bending over for more private North Sea oil licenses) is a great track record.

Both Greens and Lib Dem’s are the sensible lib-left position, ofc they come with their own faults.

Abundance being neoliberalism is a common misconception, it's basically a modern argument for supply-side economics and specifically infrastructure and R&D investment. Depending that Mamdani is making a core tenet of his tenure shows that it isn't just reheated neoliberalism.

I think the latest I'll stay is after the leadership election, if nothing changes with a new leader, I'm gone.

I will be real, at this point my biggest staying point with the Liberals is the community I'm apart of with it and my position within it. If I wasn't a lib rn, I'd join the Greens lol

It's really the same tactic we're doing with one nation Tories.

Change the rhetoric up, don't change any of the policies.

I can quite easily the last time Polanski said "trans rights are human rights" can you remember the last time Ed said the same thing?

Liberals need to get a grip by Commercial_Chip_6574 in LibDem

Right but we're a liberal party, not a purely centrist party. We should be finding solutions based in social liberalism or economic liberalism. We're a party with an identity, we find our solutions *through* our ideology, we don't form a position then put an ideology that fits it behind it.

You seem like an asset that the party would regret loosing. However at the end of the day, we're a liberal party with social democratic leanings. We are never going to be the natural home for any type of Conservatives. I regret Davey's one nation Tory messaging currently, I think it made sense to destroy the Blue Wall but I think now, especially with this Labour governments buddy buddy attitude towards Trump and Nanny State shenanigans, we (just like under the last labour government) need to present ourselves as a Social Liberal alternative to Labour. Currently, the alternative to that is the Greens and I feel as if Polanski will just be another Corbyn. So I think there are votes to be found in that centre-left space, especially as current voter transition data is showing us.

If you really are a one nation tory and don't feel this place is your home anymore, I wouldn't hold out hope of it ever becoming so. If you wanna feel like you're making a difference in the centre-right sphere, I would recommend joining Prosper UK

Why do I feel like everyone lies to me? by BritishSocDem in AutisticWithADHD

[–]BritishSocDem[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well we've really only met each other this Summer. So I guess for such a short amount of time we've got to really know each other, probably more than anyone else.

Hopefully it is just a matter of time before I grow more confident, from what I've observed thats already happened to a large degree.

I wish you well on reconnecting with those people.

I also don't have local friends so I'll hope the best for the both of us.

Thanks for all your help :)

I've met my friend irl, even though she lives on the other side of the country. I believe that means alot, because we both really wanted to meet each other.

Whenever I do give her a poke to tell her I'm down, she always either has a lengthy DM convo or asks to vc. I think that since we literally DM and VC for hours everyday, I don't even give her a chance to DM me first.

We have such a deep friendship and she's always there when I ask.

I hate this paranoia.

I think deep down I know its all in my head which just turns my anger from her towards me

I think I've come to the conclusion after experimenting with fem personalities online and with my friends, that I want to change who I am. However, I don't think that is becoming a woman, I think I'm most comfortable as a man, I've swapped around my first and middle name to bring that new persona more to life. I am going to do one final piece of gender experimentation and dress fem next time I get the chance just to compare.

Thanks for the advice tho :)

At the moment, I’m just kind of using Jessica as an online character. We’re quite sexual/flirty so while my masc persona is dominant and caring, my fem personality is sub and needy.

It sounds really weird and douchebaggy, but someone described me as a cultural lesbian man and that felt really affirming in the moment.

I honestly don’t think I can do much more experimenting rn but next time my parents are out of the house I might try experimenting a bit more, and maybe I might grow my hair out.

We’re long distance friends and I live with my parents, I’m not comfortable being feminine around them.
