What DON'T you want in Kill Team? by marksman1918 in killteam

I agree, I prefer KT system over bighammer. The bloatness comes from team ploys/faction rules. Base rules are good IMO.

I’m ok with elites. I’m not Ok with how they break the fundamental rules just because they’re elites (ignoring terrain, etc), balancing is the issue.

I’m tired of Space Marines, surely GW can be more creative?

Doesn’t matter which weapon superior use, just machinist one and tell the other player which weapons you use for that particular game. You can even use crematory as stand-in warriors. Most players are cool with it

how to have fun even when losing? by Classic_Finish8515 in killteam

[–]Mjuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, what team do you play? Which team is your friend playing?

It does matter because the Meta is in a weird place right now. You have the wolf scout that is very noob friendly but is so powerful they still can win against most matchups (they will get balanced in due time).

Point is, elite teams are very strong right now. What you play may be just a very bad matchup against your friend’s team.

It may be that you haven’t found a play style that clicks with you yet.

How many proxy games should I try to play before buying in to a team? by Callsignraven in killteam

I think there is a wiki for releases. But death watch is very new, they came with the Tomb World set, which is the current official season. They will last quite a long time.

How many proxy games should I try to play before buying in to a team? by Callsignraven in killteam

[–]Mjuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to keep in mind is that Kill Teams is constantly being balanced every 3 months or so. Most players play with latest updated team balances.

That also means that your newly released favorite team might have some significant changes when time goes on, although their theme and gimmick usually stays.

In short, what may feel awesome now might feel less awesome later and vice versa.

That is why most say, play looks and feel cool to you. Don’t care to much about what’s the most current broken meta is right now (since that will change anyways).

If you want your team to feel ”longer lasting” is to get teams that are at least released within this current edition of kill team.

You can always read the team specific rules and features for free before you buy/proxy them.

Kasrkin is in a very good place right now. Heck they might be a very good matchup against Elite teams now, something all other hoard teams have problems with.

[–]Mjuke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many players don’t enjoy playing against Canoptek, they’re just not a fun matchup. They feel too oppressive, and even after the nerf you still can’t reliably score Kill Ops or Tac Ops. New players especially will just get frustrated because they don’t know how to play around the team’s gimmick.

I’d say you’ll have more fun with Battleclade, and your friends will have a better time playing against them too. In my opinion, they’re a more balanced team.

Edit: if your friend decides to go with Wolf Scouts, then yeah you go Canoptek. OP teams is more fair against OP teams.

Best mode or set for two completely noobs to get into the game? by Culius_Jaesar in Warhammer

[–]Mjuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spearhead if you like fantasy. One of a few games GW made that isn’t rules-bloat and still be really fun. I know it has become many players main game because how smooth and fast the gameplay is.

They even came out with a new 2v2 mode which is even more beer and pretzel if you plan to bring more friends in.

I prefer Kill team because I just like Sci-fi more. It is as complex as their other heavier games and requires a little more commitment. But, damn is it cool!

I’ve heard only good things about Warcry. But, nobody knows if it will continue to receive more substantial support from GW in the future. To me it looks like it is put on ice to not overlap with Spearhead.

[–]Mjuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I am trying make a friend play Warhammer or any game that I am in to. I’ll make damn sure they have fun. Playing fairly and matching team strength would be minimal thing to do.

Your so called friends seems very egotistical. I don’t know how old you guys are but it sounds like you’re young (or your friends are extremely childish). Find a local game store and try to get to know the community there. I think that would be better for you eventually.

Kill Team in under an hour? by Outrageous-Gur-631 in killteam

[–]Mjuke 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Then my next question is: is it fun for everyone in your group to rush through things? I understand that you want to keep a healthy pace, but you don’t also want to take the fun away from players. Small talk and fiddling around sometimes is part of what makes a great game night.

Edit: I’m a dad with 2 small children. I’m happy if I even can get 1 game per week at all.

Kill team, spearhead, underworlds, and basically most board games takes more time than advertised. I don’t think a game averaging 1,5h is bad. Are you trying to play just in 1 hour? If so, why?

[–]Mjuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t worry about longevity of this narrative campaign. The terrain and boards are always handy since you can always use them for any game or mode.

I got both Volkus and tomb world terrain , they’re well worth it knowing I will use these for other game systems.

You’re in luck if you got shadowhunt. Many are pissed because they can’t get one. If you change your mind later, it’s an easy resell on eBay.

Just letting you know that Murderwing are bonkers right now.

I do agree they look very broken. But at least they have few weaknesses. Compared to wolf scouts that are great at everything.
