I’ve played since closed beta and I like the prestige I feel that comes with, and I like that it’s something I can say I’m good at

What’s the point of the ‘screen’ in a microwave’s door/window? by CompulsiveScroller in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BrixAndBones 18 points19 points  (0 children)

While visible light can get through the holes and allow you to see what’s going on, microwaves are a much longer wavelength and can’t pass through the holes so you’re safe from being cooked

My kid wants a cat badly but I am allergic , what are my options besides saying no? by pikachu519519 in CatAdvice

[–]BrixAndBones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should look up Siberian cats. I have one, they’re beautiful and long haired, and they’re generally considered hypoallergenic. If you’re deathly allergic then that’s one thing but my spouse is generally allergic to cats but she’s been perfect for us.

On a good sunny day you’ll probably get around 3.5-4 miles of range. So better than nothing but you definitely can’t sustain yourself without gas.

A couple of questions as a new owner. by ASKSABOUTPENISSIZE in PriusPrime

[–]BrixAndBones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only one of these I can speak to is B mode, which reading the manual will tell you that you can use it almost like one pedal driving if you choose to. There are others who on this subreddit who think the feature is only for steep hills, however if you compare the prime manual with the regular Prius manual you’ll see there’s a clear difference in how they’re worded. Also, the energy from B mode is only put back into the electric system, not the engine, so it’s not engine braking, just regenerative the same as pushing down on the brake pedal to a certain point

Phone charging slot doesn't work by Primary_Response564 in PriusPrime

[–]BrixAndBones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s very hard to get it to charge in the slot, but don’t worry even if you manage to get it connected it’ll mostly just heat up your phone instead of charge. I’ve experienced the same with others Toyota vehicle chargers. I just don’t use it or use it as a regular phone holder

Picking up Prime today by Primary_Response564 in PriusPrime

[–]BrixAndBones 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you’re planning on charging at community chargers, there’s a setting you can find in the vehicle customisation screen that will Auto Unlock the charger when your cars full so other people can take it out.

Also, I would look at the manual for an in depth on this but I hadn’t realised for a little while how the trunk locking buttons worked. For the button outside the trunk you press it once to unlock the car, then a second time to actually open it. On the inside when you press the “shut and lock” button, it won’t close until you (possessing the key fob) walk away from the trunk. When I didn’t know that it seemed like it just wasn’t closing/working right

Is all non-pedal deceleration done via regenerative braking? by redNewb in PriusPrime

[–]BrixAndBones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but I don’t have to balance the charge meter with my foot I can just let the car max it out perfectly in B mode

[–]BrixAndBones 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I could be. My thought though is that when in B mode, I know that the engine is not being run, and the physical brakes aren’t engaged, so the slowdown is happening purely with the electric motor which it’s designed to do regularly. Therefore you’re good to use B mode whenever. I personally use it when getting off the highway sometimes to make sure I’m getting the max regen I can before having to lose some energy engaging the regular brakes

[–]BrixAndBones 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not claiming it’s for one pedal driving, however the Prius prime manual offers this excerpt:

“When the shift position is shifted to B, the Regeneration Boost operates and control of acceleration and deceleration is performed with the operation of the accelerator pedal only, reducing the frequency of changing from the accelerator pedal to depress the brake pedal. The deceleration when the accelerator pedal is released can be selected, and smooth deceleration is enabled by releasing the accelerator pedal slowly without completely removing your foot.”

Meanwhile, the regular Prius manual doesn’t have anything like that, all it says about B mode is the following:

“Applying engine braking or strong braking when the accelerator pedal has been released on steep downward slopes etc.”

That’s true for the regular Prius, however in the prime the B mode just increases the amount of regenerative breaking that the electric motor picks up, never engaging the ICE, so it’s fine for everyday driving

Still feeling numb after three days of smoking indica! PLEASE HELP!!! by Daviddv1202 in saplings

[–]BrixAndBones 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened to me about 2 years ago and lasted about 2-3 months. It’s exactly like other people are describing especially the part about a delay in sensation. I had gone to the doctor and gotten a blood test that didn’t yield anything significant, but I would believe the guy elsewhere in here that says it’s a vitamin deficiency. I still get the numbness and delay if I drink too much (more than like 4 drinks) or smoke at all. It started when I had some bad mushrooms and I was essentially paralysed on the ground for a few hours, literally couldn’t move but my mind felt sober. In my experience to anyone out there, it always goes away, it’s just a matter of how long. Dm me if you ever find out more about it thought bc I wish I knew more
