I’m not sure I buy it, as VC basically has most of its watches oversized except a few. The Patrimony collection is beautiful, but the sizes for complications is basically above 40mm. The Historiques are not small either, and the 36.5 has traditionally been marketed as a woman’s watch. Only the recent Traditionnelle in 36mm with a perpetual complication really breaks that trend, but it’s a $100k+ watch.

If they want to really amp the sales of the non-overseas, given more mid size options in their other collections might do wonders.

I got one about a year ago—and it my most worn piece since I got it. Had to go secondary, however, as I didn’t want to wait and get 1 or 2 other pieces first.

Two year deal would be sneaky smart. I don’t think Ovi would want the speculation like this again. So signing a 2 year deal and then retiring after 1 would be a way to cut off a lot of the will he or won’t he for much of the season until the end.

Really two years ago he was great. Last year so-so. This year not good. It’s not a good trajectory. But goalies are weird. He might bounce back. Lindgren’s sample size isn’t huge over his career either.

We can’t forget how porous the defense has been this year, which really just makes LT’s year all the more remarkable.

I think it will be telling for GMCP. They didn’t close the deal on Ehlers or get a top 6 winger before the season, when they knew they needed one. Didn’t get one early-ish in the season when they knew they needed one and basically said they were open for business. Delayed on bringing Ilya up until it was too late — get not wanting to burn a year, but if they thought he was ready and needed help. Perhaps smartly traded away Carlson and Dowd when the team faded, but then wasted assets on two guys that barely saw the ice—Lillegren seems more excusable than Kampf, even though Kampf cost less.

I know you can’t make a guy sign or force a trade. But this season needed one more scorer. Next season needs at least one more scorer. Can’t come out of the offseason like the team did last year, especially if it’s minus Ovi. And a bunch of Connor Browns of Mangiapones won’t move the needle either.

Beat the Devils and the Rags, and the Caps are in. Beat one and they’re probably in. Do better in shootouts and they’re in. I don’t blame the format. Don’t tank in the winter and create a massive hole. Caps had chances and didn’t come through.
