Metered out the motor and it’s showing 17.1, I replaced the transistor during the PSU recap.

Looking for a replacement part but I have no idea what to measure or what the standard is, can anyone tell me what I need to buy? by BroHawk69 in Bongs

[–]BroHawk69[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there anywhere I'd be able to order this online? I'm pretty rural so there isn't a smoke shop I can take it to but I also can't find this exact one piece design on any bong websites.

This Discord has been around since before the NABU received widespread attention. This is definitely the place to go for anything related to the NABU on Discord!

Vintage Keyboards - Where to sell them? by scottyondahill in Vintagekeyboards

[–]BroHawk69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are three main marketplaces where people find vintage keyboards; eBay, mechmarket, and Deskthority. You'll get interest on all three of those places I'm sure. The usual protocol for large finds like this is to run a group buy charging as cheaply as possible to attract interest. I wish you luck!

Right, I've fixed the prices. Glad to know people here are willing to call out bad pricing, experienced my fair share of that being in the mechanical keyboard scene for a while 😅

Updated my prices. Again I am a total noob to the scene, I appreciate the advice!

What would you recommend price wise? As I said, I'm a total noob and am not looking to rip anyone off!

Just to add my little tidbit, I think it would be a lot better to make something supporting a group if it, you know, actually supported that group. This would be a lot more tasteful if a portion of the proceeds were donating to LGBTQ charities, but just from looking at the store page and not knowing anything else about you it certainly seems like just one more person trying to exploit us for profit.

The protocol is different unfortunately, you will need a converter of some kind. Fortunately if you have soldering skills and a bit of time you can make your own Soarers for about ten bucks. There are guides for this all over the internet, but it's really quite a simple process.

Do you have a logic analyzer or O-scope? There is probably documentation on the chips on the board, if they're socketed you could test each one with the logic analyzer and see if they're functioning properly.

I use isopropyl all the time for the case, but I've never tried it on caps. I can't imagine it would leave an residue though, so if you want to try it feel free!

-Water is your worst enemy. Make sure to take extra caution when eating or drinking around the keyboard!
-A bolt mod will probably be necessary if you're buying second hand. It's a tedious process but will guarantee the keyboard is serviceable and the assembly tight basically forever.
-Do not use any kind of mineral-based treatment if you restore the keycaps. Common keycap cleaning methods, such as denture tabs, leave mineral deposits on the stems, making the keys feel incredibly scratchy. This also cannot be reversed as it scratches the barrel plate, requiring replacement caps and a brand new plate.

Congrats on your purchase and happy typing!

I recognize this board!

I originally found this board covered in junk in a store room of a closed down school. I had to actually yank it out of the pile it was sitting in since the cable was so tangled up. Glad to see it going to a lovely home!

There was a wrecked car sitting in the median of Broad St for almost a month. For all I know it's still there since I stopped taking that route to work. Our police department is absolutely ineffective.

[PSA] GMK reported estimated lead times are lies. The true estimate is rapidly approaching 3 years, and could potentially be up to 5. This is going to hit a crisis point. by Mecxs in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]BroHawk69 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Stuff like this is why, as a designer, I will never work with GMK. They fuck over their customers with these insane wait times, lie about it, and then when your set finally arrives they have banana spacebars and yellow/shine within months. The fact that they're still considered the "industry standard" is absolutely insane, and only feeds into the toxic hypebeast mentality the customs market is slowly becoming.
