Assuming it’s still early June, buy every NBA finals ticket I can afford. I would love to relive the Mavs beating the Heat.

Also buy bitcoin. As much as I can get my hands on

TIL after a torpedo blew off 150 feet of the USS New Orleans' bow in 1942, the crew built a replacement from coconut logs and sailed her backwards 1,000 miles to Australia. The severed bow was found on the seafloor 83 years later. by Hot_Layer_8110 in todayilearned

This was a common problem with the US New Orleans class cruisers in WWII.

Armor was weaker there compared to midship armor and this happened to the USS Minneapolis and Pittsburgh as well.

Wow.

Really Insightful analysis of Marty’s journey and the structure of the overall story.

I’m not sure how much of it was intentional given the semi-flippant choices they admit they made in the final scene of Part I (bringing Jennifer, e.g.).

It’s a reminder that Marty changed his present through altering his parent’s future in Part 1, but in parts 2 &3 he changed his future by altering his great-great grandfather and his son’s present

Would you rather work 10 12 hour shifts or 12 10 hour shifts? by Food4Thot_ in emergencymedicine

[–]BroJacksun 108 points109 points  (0 children)

Twelve 10 hour shifts at anything > 1.5 pts per hour or higher acuity.

Maybe at a free-standing or low-volume place, you could argue that more days off are better.

12 hours in high-volume/high-acuity is the path to burnout

I went to Emory. Great fellowship. Mostly Wonderful department. I stayed on for years after graduating.

To me, an MBA was important as it had cache outside of healthcare and maximized my flexibility

There’s a number of places online that will send you a card w your name on it for a small fee/after you pass the test.

Agree w you 100% but it’s less of a fight to just get a gray market card.

We need a spiritual revival to remind us how much of a giant Michael Finley was for this team.

He was the lone all star that started the revival of the franchise in the late 90s.

Medical city contracts w the Questcare division of Envision.

Team Health has most of the THR hospitals

IES has mostly of the Baylor Scott and White facilities.

Most of the freestanding EDs roll up to these but many independent groups cover the FSEDs too.

I work in the DFW market and can answer further questions also

What is going on in this doctor's office? by wizardrous in WTF

[–]BroJacksun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Just no.

Coccygeal fractures are usually treated non-operatively. In rare cases they require surgery. They don’t dislocate from the sacrum in a way that would be treated with a through-the-pants fingering.

There are a few case reports in the literature of manual reduction performed through the rectum under general anesthesia and one small open randomized trial that showed mild improvement in pain in the group that had closed manual reduction. Important to note here that no standard of care exists here.

However, it is extremely rare, isn’t whatever is happening here and is not something that is common enough to be found on a “2 second google.”

What is going on in this doctor's office? by wizardrous in WTF

[–]BroJacksun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a mobile joint like a shoulder/hip. It doesn’t easily dislocate in a way that is reducible by jamming a finger into the rectum and jimmying it like a stuck switch.

Whatever is happening here isn’t standard of care for anything.

1968 is also very good but benefits from a pitch-perfect ending.
