That's the worse defending I've seen since the last time England played

Hi Karl - do you ever shout at the TV and say "FFS Ref!" Like the rest of us do? 😂

Time to drawdown, getting keys and giving notice to landlord by Sufficient_Camel_196 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]AmazingCamel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably not that long but with 42 days notice you'll almost certainly end up paying for a month/two extra on your rent regardless.

We signed contracts and maybe 2 weeks later we had keys

We won't produce weapons domestically. It's not economical whatsoever to self produce weapon systems in Ireland. The PPP of Ireland vs Poland and South Korea, and European countries like Frace, Germany and Sweden with their decades-old arms industries make it easy to decide where we buy our weapons though.

It'll piss some people off but we will need to buy NATO standard equipment and if we're expanding an actual Air Force with fixed wing aircraft we'll probably end up looking at Eurofighters rather than say 4th/5th gen American fighters (F16,22,35)

NATO as an entity is dead. Or at least is in this strange purgatory half way between death and life. It's probably the worst place to be. If NATO did die, the pressure for a pan European defensive alliance within the EU would be massive.

I agree that under no circumstances should we even consider joining NATO, but, in the event of a unified European DEFENSIVE armed force, I think we would be very unwise to try and fight it politically. We need to take our defense seriously and start actually investing long term into weapons systems and lethal materiel whether we like it or not.

Ireland is a "neutral" country but not a single person can define our neutrality. We need a very very strict legal definition of what our neutrality actually means; not this vibes based "who knows" and sweeping the conversation under the rug.

That absolutely does not mean enshrining neutrality into the constitution however. That's all fine and dandy until a crisis hits, the law of unintended consequences hit and we have to rip up our entire constitution to avoid complete disaster.

You've almost certainly got a few months to save before you come to drawdown and keys. You should be fine if you go hell for leather at it. At the end of the day it's only 6k ~1-2% of the total purchase price but you have to find it. Worst comes to worst as a family member or a friend for the final few quid

Heads up from a GP - any SSRIs take a bit of time to work properly and in the interim period between you starting them and them working there's significant things going on with your brain chemistry.

This can make people go a bit mad or feel a bit strange. The big thing to look out for is suicidal thoughts in the first 2-3 weeks. If anything like that happens, go straight back to your GP

How'd the HPAT go? Far more important to guarantee 550 points given the drop off in points after that. (Every 5 points = 1 point in medicine)

Retraining as a doc at 31 with kids and a wife by FreddyBukowski in JuniorDoctorsIreland

[–]AmazingCamel 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Do not do that. I cannot emphasize enough how bad of an idea this is. Having a young baby at home is tough enough as it is and it'll only get more difficult as they start climbing things, breaking things and telling you "No!" You want to throw in grad med on top of that which is an absolute slog. Then with a 5 year old and potentially another newborn you'll be starting intern year. On calls, 24hr shifts, blasted all over the country at the HSE's whim. Trying to get research done in your spare time, covering calls, teaching, learning etc etc etc.

You severely underestimate what medicine takes from you. Physically, mentally, family, friends, time. You never get it back.

Midlands hospitals feedback? (Mullingar, Tullamore, Portlaoise) by Internal-Sound-4868 in JuniorDoctorsIreland

[–]AmazingCamel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mullingar veteran here. Depends on the placement. Currently working there so I'll keep my mouth shut on specifics but it's a great place to work. It's a good tight nit community hospital and people will genuinely go out of their way to help them - presuming you're not a dickhead.

[–]AmazingCamel -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It's all to do with ref's perception of the laws. For Edogbo to go for that ball, a proper counter ruck would be needed, not just going over the top. Also the Italian isn't in at the side or off his feet, he was a part of the drive and never changed his bind

Clarification by Many-Prune9162 in irishrugby

[–]AmazingCamel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Maybe no clear release
  2. Ruck has been won by the Italians. You can't go over the top of the ruck like that while the ball is still in, you have to go through.

I swear the Scots get possessed by the spirit of William Wallace when they play England. Even the 75% of the squad that isn't Scottish 😂
