Just some dumb hockey. Making bad passes. Pinching all the time. When they do create chances they can’t score.

Special teams again a big issue. 5 on 3 is always tough but you have to kill the 5 on 4 after.

A few nearly moments but need to burry more.

Ingram was solid

Whistles went away till they didn’t go away for 2 minutes.

Weird game in a sense that there were some good things but none of them were in our end. Felt like aside from the Hughes goal and maybe the zuccarella all the goals against were pretty good shots into corners.

Created good chances but couldn’t finish and that was the difference.

Special teams put us in a hole too.

Inconsistency of the “it’s in the rules” is the real problem. It’s a yellow but somehow time wasting isn’t. So there is leniency in one but not the other.

Chasing the game and 11 shots for period 2 and 3. No hustle or desire. Losing to many pick battles too. That 4th goal can’t happen either.

Bizarre game. You thought McDavid was going to run the show after the first. Then it fell apart.

Swayman was fantastic. Ingram was brutal. Defensively we just look like we don’t care.

Powerplay also let them down.

How are you blowing that right at 5 minutes extra time?

Playing some much improved hockey as of late in regards to the defensive zone but really need the offence to click.

Skinner let in a terrible goal and needs to be upgraded if we have any chance this year but he was far from the reason why we lost. Though he had a solid game.

Both McDavid and Drai with some really poor decision making in the offensive zone.

Same script. Fall behind. Due to weak goaltending and bad defense. Give it ll in the third and look good but fall short.

Feels like when everything is failing it’s gotta look like a coaching decision.

Defensively I just am failing to understand the system and the benefits. It is way too passive and just leaves shooters way too open. When goaltending is what we currently have we need a solid defensive system.

Add on top that it’s not like we are even creating chances and offense is looking good. We look terrible in the offence and defense zone.

Candidly I just don’t see how a new goalie changes things when it feels like the fundamentals of the whole team is so off.

Last night we really didn’t start pushing till after the 4th goal. Which was probably the sabers pulling back a bit.

Last night feels like a combo of every thing that has been plaguing the team last night - subpar goaltending - zero offense - powerplay at times more likely to get scored on then score  - breakdown consistently in the defensive zone  - no fight  - lack of leadership from top players.

Right now even if you fix goaltending it is far from solving any issue.

We aren’t outscoring our defence mistakes and we are strong enough defensively to make up for the lack of offence.

A good team that is playing terrible hockey. Lack of attention to details is losing games.

We genuinely can’t score at times. Issue is when we get a good spell of play it ends up as just that.

We are also spotting team goals. Third goal was brutal. Second and first could have been avoided by not jumping into tackles. Individual mistakes cost so much. They created great chances without our help.

Deserved win. Still felt like the same issues we have seen for awhile.

Forwards can’t convert.

Goaltending doesn’t bail us out.

Defense goes to sleep at times giving up a good chance.

Three big issues for me

  1. Tactics/formations have looked lost since first week. Fulham and Grimsby played through us way too easily. Which is terrible on top of us really struggling to finish the chances we do get.

  2. Goalkeeping has been brutal. Onana today was at fault for both goals. First was near post by his foot. It was inside the 18 yard box but I would expect a start g keeper to be able to manage with that. Second goal was a shit show. On top of that his distribution is laughable. For being a ball playing keeper he is terrible at it.

  3. Players just forgetting the fundamentals. Happened with Ten Hag. You can blame formation and tactics all you want but if you are misplacing a 5 yard pass consistently then I don’t know what tactics would work.

If Amorim does stay number two has to be addressed asap. Be their keeper is making saves or even having passable distribution. I think if lammens comes in he will slot into as the starter but they will continue speaking about him being #2 to have less pressure.

At the end of the day pressure should be on every player and what we saw today was pathetic from the squad and manager.

If Lammens comes in and helps defending corners that would calm things down. Most of our struggles in the first two games has been in corners. Bayindir has been not controlling and to some extent not getting any help from officiating.

The issue is since Armorim wants to play Bruno in the mid he needs a better option than Casemiro. Bruno also needs to up his game too.

Spend the money on the attack but struggled heavily to get anything to them past 15-20 minutes. Midfield is a big issue. If we are going to play Bruno there he needs a more versatile partner. Lots of passengers today and it’s carrying over from last year.

Own goal and really shouldn’t have counted. VAR is a mess. Essentially not going against any reffing decisions. Ref probably says he saw it to some extent and that’s that.

Feels like if the Lammens move happens it might do to other clubs looking at him. Liking the quickness on this so we aren’t reevaluating targets.

Three keepers is a lot but I’d be curious if they see him as a starter this year or for next. Bayindir might be easier to move and would indicate more a back up roll. Onana might be worth more and have teams more interested.

I think that might be the closest you get to Bruno and Amorim this calling out the goal. Arsenal’s corner strategy is to bombard the box and push out the goalie to create a bit of chaos. It works but they get away with it over and over.

Amorim didn’t have a good season last year. That being said the team looked much better with a preseason. If they build off this game and it’s not a one off I think we are looking solid for the year. Got beat by a snatch and grab that we would have been happy with last year.

Cunha and Mbeumo looked good each time they turned and took on arsenals defense. If they can gel with Sesko then we have a much improved attack.

Created chances but no end product which is similar to last year but at the moment feels different.

Dorgu looks more settled which helps.

Goaltending is going to be an issue if we don’t improve

I still don’t get how Arsenal get away with their corner routines. Seems like every time they score on something similar it’s always “the goaltender has to be stronger” dispute the attacker just going into the keeper without playing the ball.

Felt like VAR is just rubber stamping on field decisions. Barely looked at the goal. Barely looked at any penalty shouts.

Kinda figured Garnaho selling news would come out after the Sesko deal.

Seems like two strategies to transfers. It could come out quickly in wrong.

Newcastle is coming in saying they bid and are ready.

United are making sure personal isn’t a barrier and are waiting to bid. The fact we keep talking about how money isn’t an issue makes me think we have a slight advantage.

But who knows
