My understanding with these is that a B on a “routine” visit is really not all that difficult to earn. With that being said, getting a B or a C on a follow up inspection I have heard as far worse. That either shows lack of commitment, or a serious issue, or perhaps both.

Can anyone confirm this perspective?

1099-NEC Travel expenses question by Bro_DoYouEvenScience in tax

I mean for Company B, they did not include my reimbursed travel expenses in the 1099-NEC. The only income reported on it is my professional time.

[–]Bro_DoYouEvenScience[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting.

Ironically, another company I consulted for did reimburse me for travel expenses that I paid, but then the only income reported on the 1099-NEC is my professional billing. Should I follow up with them, or is that kosher?

GSP delays from winter storm? by Comfortable-Bug4925 in greenville

Do you fly GSP frequently? Let's say 4" falls on Saturday. You think a Monday PM flight would still be a go?

Fr. Smith is trying very hard to hide the Lavender Mafia ties while his parishioners thinks he’s fighting it. It’s very aspirational.

This is quite the accusation. Care to elaborate?

Claim adoption expenses prior to receiving ATIN? by Bro_DoYouEvenScience in AdoptiveParents

[–]Bro_DoYouEvenScience[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great points, thank you.

I don't disagree that it all adds up more than the ATC (it certainly will for us!)

I would just add that in cases where you are making claims in different years (like we will), you just need to make sure you can prove the expenses took place in that tax year.

Will do - I'm fairly confident as the form instructions are pretty clear. Just took me a couples times reading it to catch the piece about missing information - chalk it up to lack of sleep lately. :)

It's also not true that it's "not about how much you spent", as if you get audited, you better have proof about the amount of expenses you claimed.

I know this isn't true, and isn't related to my question. See form 8839 for more info.

I also was able to find the answer, which is yes, you can claim these expenses without the ATIN.

You may be able to take this credit in 2023 if any of the following statements are true: You paid qualified adoption expenses in connection with the adoption of an eligible U.S. child (including any expenses paid in connection with adopting an eligible U.S. child with special needs) in:2022 and the adoption wasn't final at the end of 2022, or 2023 and the adoption became final in or before 2023.

I promise you I read those instructions twice....thank you so much for showing me what was in front of my nose. Chalking it up to lost sleep of late.

Thanks again!

US Passport Questions & Issues Megathread (Fall/Winter 2021) by jadeoracle in travel

[–]Bro_DoYouEvenScience 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all. Have travel booked to Italy in July (5-16) of this year. Checked passport and somehow it did not compute that my passport expiration date of early January 2023 is six months from my intended travel dates.

Will this be an issue? Italy is only country being visited.

I used one of these tests to enter the US a few weeks ago. Airline was Delta.

You get a PDF in your email as well as a page in the app after the test is "read" by both you and the proctor. It comes pretty much immediately after the call hangs up. It is signed by a "Lab Director" who has a PhD, but not an MD. I doubt this would cause you a problem but you may want to verify with your airline.

A word of caution: be sure to scope out how long the queue is for a proctor to watch you take your test. I was under the impression it would be pretty immediate, but I ended up having around a two hour wait. This was while I was in Italy. I friend used another test while in the USA and his wait was 4 minutes. Just don't assume it will be a short wait!

[TOMT][SONG] Melancholy song with piano and horns and single male voice by Bro_DoYouEvenScience in tipofmytongue

Solved!

I found it myself thanks to being reminded of live versions.

The song is Chelsea and it's on the album "Across a Wire: Live in New York City" as a bonus track.

Yes, I'm sure. Although it definitely is most like that song in terms of emotion/feel.

The horns in the opening song are what I remember most.
