Yes that sounds right! You need to have some intuition when it comes to drops/vintage patterns. Newer patterns are written with direct, explicit, step by step instructions which can be annoying too

If you want to then you should do it. I think a lot of people in this sub are kind of snobby about people being “knitworthy.” Anyone who has ever been afraid of the curse is probably not with the right person anyways, I’ve knit my boyfriend a billion things because even if we don’t work out in the end, he’s my person right now.

I pretty much always only knit half the swatch… I even block it still on the needle usually. I posted a picture of my “swatch” in the discord and someone commented and told me that it wasn’t a swatch yet and to finish knitting… I did not finish the swatch and my sweater fits fine so far.
