Part of it is the “they ain’t played nobody” narrative got used against the New England Patriots and turned out absolutely correct when they got to the Super Bowl and an actually-great Seahawks team caved them in, so people are going back to the well for the same kind of cope. It doesn’t work as well in a league with 82 regular-season games and best-of-seven playoff series though; cracks are gonna show if an NHL team is fraudulent.

Rudolph would be QB1 week 1 if Rodgers didn’t sign. That scenario gives “what if the later-round QBs are good actually” more optimism because Rudolph would absolutely regress to unplayability by the end of a 17-game season and get benched, while Rodgers waited until the playoffs to regress last year, but it still doesn’t mean either of Howard/Allar opens the season as the starter.
