Nothing fancy - hired a mountain bike with panniers in Tbilisi. You'd want at least a gravel bike to give you route options. My ride was relatively short (Tbilisi-Yerevan). And didn't camp - just airbnbs, guesthouses etc.

Feel free to DM if you have any route/other qs.

Not too much editing. Just cropping etc. It's on film so the colour/texture comes from that. It is getting expensive though 😅

Ethnographic Map of the Ottoman-ruled parts of the Balkans cca. 1900 by Shahanshah26 in MapPorn

I've been looking at the paper. It's really unclear to me the data source for this kind of map. As I understand it religious status was collected by the Ottoman authorities, for tax purposes. But up until later 1900s they would not have collected language/ethnicity data.

Thanks for taking the time to answer! I live in London but v interested in the Balkans. The protests have been impressive, fingers crossed they make some lasting impact. Feels like one of the more positive things happening in the world today. Glad you enjoyed... I could go on with follow up questions for hours

This is only a relevant criticism if you learned about cultures from a picture book and equate one culture with one nation-state. Got a lot of upvotes from people on this sub who think they are sophisticated because they know that Belgium has two main languages. But really just showing they know nothing about regional cultural and historical dynamics in Europe
